Is it possible
..to fit either a NATO style strap or a leather croco to the new subs with solid end links

Yes, I have a strap on my SD and it has SEL.
What sort of problem did you think you might have?

Yes, no problem! Since the SEL is on the BRACELET and not incorporated in the case as it is on for example the white gold Daytona model that is made only for a crocodile strap.
Of course you also have the ALL white gold Daytona, but that model again has SEL on the BRACELET, whereas the "croc band white gold Daytona" has SEL in the CASE so that a white gold bracelet can NEVER be fitted to it.
