A tale of conflicted emotions...
These two watches were produced rather close to each other, the 5513 in back is from late '79, the 16750 in front from '81. I acquired both these watches within the last 6 months. The 5513 was a stroke of luck, found and bought quickly, it's nearly perfect, doesn't need service, keeping great time, it's just a dandy, practically like buying an NIB 5513. The 16750, OTOH, was a trial from the outset. It took 3 months to actually receive the watch, it had to be overhauled immediately, and it still keeps sort of dodgy time. But.... I rather prefer it? Maybe something about the work it took me to finally get to wear it. Maybe that it's got a thinner case, smaller crown and more comfortable clasp, so it feels more at home on the wrist. Maybe that the second timezone function is actually useful. Or maybe it's just that I haven't even had it long enough to get "tired" of it before the 5513 came along. But for whatever reason, as much as I love my new 5513 (and make no mistake, I love it!) my thoughts keep drifting to this less-than-perfect 16750 that was more expensive, took longer, and needed wayyyyy more work to get up to speed. Whaddya think, am I nuts or what? I guess I can just never really be satisfied ![]() ![]() ![]() P.S. Don't even bother asking, there's NO way I'm selling the 5513, that one will be on my son's wrist one day, it'll make a nice companion to the 16610 that's already named for him in my trust.

I may be only slightly biased (ha ha), but you know I don't think anyone who prefers a rotten GMT to a pristine ND Sub is nuts. In fact, IMO, such a person is a paragon of rationality and good sense.

Great shot, Micah, and I'm remiss for not having congratulated you on getting that 5513 earlier.
Hmm - it sounds like you may have caught JJ's disease there. ![]()

Wow,
That's the nicest pair I've seen since that other thread with the pretty young thing holding an arm with a Rolex over her "girls" That Pepsi dial is quite an eye catcher and the sub is just a classic... looks wise it is exactly like the sea dweller no?

Great shot Micah! I can understand why you love the GMT so much after all you've been through with it. Nothing says you can't love that perfect 5513 as much though!

I mean: I did it that way on purpose, to highlight the cruelty of man to the mother-world around him, in his sorrow and agony man has lashed out and put the entire world crown-down, when it's rightful place is crown-to-the-heavens where Gaia can smile benevolently upon human kind and her wonderous, green creation the Earth. Yeah, that's it! ![]()
