Loupe shots of Submariner

OK, don't shoot this one down, please! I bought a £3.99 LED illuminated 40x loupe on Ebay and have just spent an hour looking at my watch. I cannot decribe how much pleasure this was peering into this tiny world of utter perfection. So, I got my phone out (Samsung Galaxy S2 destroys the iPhone on every level) and took a few daft pictures to share with you. The loupe was a great purchase and for a few quid, whatever. I have a re-sizing kit on it's way from Moviefreak (Eduardo), so there will be plenty of hours of fun too.

Here are the pics and bare in mind I am just an enthusiastic amateur and certainly no Jocke. Anyone who says they don't like the smurf blue is crazy, man!

Kind regards,

Michael.

Hey isn't that a piece of dust under the crystal near the coronet? Just kidding!

I tell you what though...there is some remarkable dust in and around the bracelet. And the swirlies on the gold bits look horrendous when upped 40x magnification. The amazing straightness of the painted script lines on the watch is amazing, everything is so perfect.

Looks like the rehaut is a fraction off.

You knew that I would grab the loupe again...

I can't tell. The pic gives it that look, I can see it too now you say it. There is a bit of deception from angles going on. I have laid the watch on a level surface and can't tell. It might be a fraction of 1mm, like 0.1mm, but not as much as that pic. Doesn't bother me, though I had to find out.

Haha, bet you never got that loupe out now.

Some guy posted a thread yesterday about it, checked my rehaut and to my eye looked ok, not that I'd be bothered anyway

Parallax is very tricky with the rehaut ... if you don't look at it from a perfect straight angle it might look off to one side or the other ... hard to tell from a pic.

Great pics of a watch I absolutely love and want! I did not know the blue could look like that on the 116613LB, I was actually confused for a second there as I thought it was a 16613LB... Just mesmerizing!

Sorry guys I have to go mop my drool from the floor now

I agree. To really judge you need to close one eye and look at it straight down (with the open eye of course!)

The blue is navy at night, bright blue in the day. It completely changes all the time. Remarkable.

Have you tried to get a shot of the LEC through the loupe?

A Lupe is fine but in many cases lately it can be a new Rolex watch owners worst enemy.

But here's one way where the Samsung doesn't blow away the iPhone, apparently.

No, but it would be straightforward. The 40x magnification makes it very visible.

I hear you Padi, but not an enemy for me. It's like peering into another world.
