New Member: story of my DJ and Exp II
Hi, I am a new member from Jakarta, Indonesia. I have followed this forum for quite some times and I really enjoy the discussion (both serious or not that serious topics) and I think it's about time to join in. As for my Rolex story, my first introduction to Rolex was not as "dramatic" as some others, but for me it was rather memorable. Back to two years ago, a friend of mine told me that she was going to sell her husband's Rolex due to financial urgency. I understood at that time Rolex is a highly reputed watch but never had a thought to own one due to its price. However, as soon as I saw the watch (it was a Datejust, WG), I fell in love. Well, after two days thinking, thinking, and thinking, I could not resist the feeling to own it (and the opportunity to help my friend as well) and so I bought that DJ. I was really impressed with the watch, and especially the sapphire would never get scratch even though I consider my self as a bit clumsy (all of my other watches got scratches). Since that time, I learn and search all things related to Rolex (thanks to internet), and I fall in love deeper and deeper. One of my favourite Rolex is GMT Master model and I told myself that one day I will buy one (preferably black bezel). Earlier this month, in search of the GMT Master, I saw in one reputed Rolex dealer in Jakarta a beautiful pre owned S serial Explorer II, well the black paint in the bezel is bit faded, but for me it just add the character. Suddenly, the love struck hit me again, and to make the story short, I swapped my DJ with that Explorer II. It's been about three weeks now, but I am keep staring at the beauty of this Explorer II. Maybe someday, I can save some money to get the GMT Master II (not the newest version though, I prefer the older one). Ok, that's all.. I am sorry for my broken English, and thank you for reading.. I attached pictures of those Rolexes.

Welcome to the forum Syafiq and glad to have you aboard!
That was a nice story, everyone has their own stories about how they eventually came to know and wear Rolex watches and to me, that is something special. Enjoy the Explorer II, I have the white dial version. The black looks really great in your pictures!

Welcome to TRF, Syafiq. That's a great story. You and I have the same taste in sport Rolexes - black bezel, black dial, and red hand. Enjoy the EXP-II and enjoy the hunt for the GMT-II. I know you'll love yours when you get it as much as I love mine.
In the meantime, stick around and join the fun. Oh, don't worry about your English. It's a lot better than some around here.

Thanks all for a very warm welcome..
I just notice that the accuracy of the (almost) fifteen years old Explorer II is even better than the younger DJ, that's really amazing! Although, I don't really care about slight inaccuracy which is an "essential" character of all mechanical watches :D Again thank you, I really enjoy this forum..
