Original accessories delivered with Day-Date 1803
Hello Fellow Rolex Owners,
I recently purchased a vintage 1971 Day Date reference 1803. I will post images shortly as I will get it this Friday. The watch is 100% genuine and has been verified. It comes with the sought after Bark finish and trendy original white dial. Here is my question. Does anybody known what accessories originally came with this reference? What case type? What leaflet or documentation? I see a lot of 1975+ documentation and brown leather boxes out there, but nothing pre-1974. Any help is appreciated... Thanks |

"sought after Bark finish?"
Are you sure you just purchased this? Or Are you trying to sell this... If it comes with a bark finish it should have the ref. 1807. I'm not trying to be rude, just letting you know. I've only heard sought after bark-finish from someone selling a bark watch. P.S I like the bark 1807s , many do not.

Shit guys don't be so hard on me! :-)
Effectively, it is a 1807. I've been so into shopping for vintage DD lately that I got the numbers mixed up! As for the bark finish, I have read that it makes the watch looks bigger, wears off better because the band has more satin finish than polish finish (more forgiving on scratches) and since most come with a white dial, they are coming back in vogue compared to the loads of champagne dial you see around. Also, I have read this particular finish has never been copied so your are sure to get a real Rolex throught out (is that part true?). So basically, a good entry level vintage DD at a orice point close to the content of gold in the watch! I am sorry to share up your beliefs. I am flying to Paris for business next weeks in Business Class. I'll et you know if any passenger throws up at the sight of my poorly loved bark 1807 :-) That being said, can you stop laughing at my face and provide info on the accessories that came with this 1807 in 1971? Regards! |

I wasn't trying to be hard on you. Welcome to TRF. In any event, your Day-Date is one of my favorites.
P.S in the next 5 years, you may be laughing. These may come back into style!

Wow thanks guys! I am getting the brown leather box with my 1807. I will be on the hunt for those leaflets. If you happen to know someone who has them for sale!
