Meters First Dial Question

Is it possible for a 5 mil. series 5513 from 1977 to have come with a Meters First matte dial? If the answer is no, would it still be more valuable with the Meters first then if it had a more modern lum/metal dial?

Meters first dial were only in matte and available roughly from 1967-69. Not possible on a 5M series case - someone has pulled that watch together from parts, I would argue it is a Frankenwatch (others won't because I may very well be built from genuine Rolex parts).

I'd say stay away.

Agree stay away, who knows what other shenanigans have taken place with this watch.

x3 However, all things being equal, if everything else checked out, and you wanted to get the correct dial and hands, I bet you'd be able to trade the dial for the correct one and come away on top just a little. That being said, I'd still stay away as it wouldn't be worth the wasted effort trying to make it period correct unless you wanted to do it as a project.

I would think that the bigger question is why one would install a more valuable
M/F dial on a watch that only needs a run of the mill F/F dial.
