So, What's Next ... If Anything?

So, I now am blessed to own a Tridor DD (rhodium roman dial/white gold, fluted bezel), a 16700 GMT Master (black bezel), and a 116231 TT DJ (everose/fluted/super jubilee/pink roman dial). Seems as if I have a nice representation of the basic model genres as well as the one tone, two tone, three tone thing.

So, what could be next? Not a fan of the ceramics, diamond bling or Daytona. The only grail is the Platinum DD with the Glacier Blue dial ... not sure if I would flip the Tridor for it or save up longer to buy it outright. In any event, the Platinum is a really expensive piece which I may never be able to get due to cost considerations. Given my current, modest collection which is sort of a "one of each," should I even look at anything else? Is there anything else given my preferences? Or, should I just keep the Platinum DD on the long term radar? This love of Rolex is an incredibly satisfying and frustrating addiction, all at the same time.

I'm on the same boat. My recommendation: Check out some other brands. I was opposed at first, but am now smitten with a few.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I just can't bring myself to do it.

They seem too similar to the GMT. I thought about a Sub, but the black bezel GMT serves the purpose just fine. I guess I don't want to spend money for the sake of spending money. It just seems, given my current line-up, that I'm sort of in a stalemate position. Weird, I know, but a DD, DJ and sport watch kind of cover the full Rolex spectrum. Hey, maybe I just answered my own question.

Vintage...

How about a low cost Tudor vintage, plenty of patina for the dollar, and a nice compliment to the Rolex cousins.. This watch is a conversation piece, more so among watch hobbyists. I really enjoy owning this watch...

Vintage may be the final frontier for you then...I'm in a similar place with my collection...I've got a SS Daytona, SS Sub LV, ND Sub, SD and a Panerai Black Seal in ceramic....getting the new ND sub this year and the new Expy II....then I'm going vintage...RED SUB from my birth year!!

Yes, keep the Platinum DD on the long term radar as it will keep your interest peaked. Besides, you still need at least one of these before going after your grail:

Here are my pics in order:

1) Polar 216570 (It will diversify your collection with a new dial color and a slightly bigger size. And no ceramic!)
2) Polar 16570 (Same as above if you're not into trying a larger watch and can be had for far less)
3) Blue Tudor Snowflake (Vintage can be had for great prices still and the models differ greatly enough from the dimensions of the 16700 to make it worthwhile)
4) Milgauss GV

Change the bezel on the GMT to black or Pepsi, depending on which you don't have. $50 and it feels like a new watch

Vintage baby. I have several vintage Rolex books and I just love the old Rolex ethos when watches were really pieces of equipment. It's when you start gather info on models such as the explorer and sea dweller and realise there's some real rare transitional pieces out their as Rolex found their way.

Excellent advice... Man cannot live on bread alone or in this case, one watch brand. While collecting Rolex is great there are LOTS of great brands to research and add to your collection so go out there and broaden your horizons!
