Hi all,
Sory if this has been done but i cannot find where it has been fully explined. I have contacted Jewlers Mutual and been told the insurance will replace "appraised value ". now in 3 years that wont ( if lost/ stolen) replace the watch with new. you can get home insurance for such things like a TV. Does anyone in the USA know of a better more comprehensive insurance like what I am looking for. Thanks to everyone for help. Neil |

I'm guessing you're looking for a replacement policy. Afaik, you'll have to get regular appraisals for such a policy as most everything I've seen is based on appraised value.

Thanks for reminding me, I have to renew with JM this month!!
Just make sure your appraisal reflects current MSRP and that's what they'll base the premiums on. Three years from now that amount will reflect fair market value for your loss. Normal insurance doesn't cover depreciation, that kind of coverage is more expensive and I'm not even sure if JM offers it.

Jewelers Mutual is a great company. I've had to submit a claim with them and it went very smoothly.

Insurance companies insure things. They don't do appraisals and track depreciation long-term. I have a replacement policy with my insurance carrier but it's my responsibility to ensure the appraised/insured amount covers replacement.

As was said above on a replacement policy they will give you the value it is insured for but you have to update your policy as the value of the item changes
