Hello TRF Members,
I haven't really talked about this, so I would like to. If that's alright with you! A few weeks ago, I got my first job! I work at the Community Donation Center at Value Village. Okay, it's not the most glamorous job, but it is great. I work with great people, excellent work conditions and not to shabby paychecks! ![]() I've worked around 60 hours already and I'm starting to realize, by the end of the summer (WHICH HASN'T EVEN STARTED YET, FOR ME) that I might be able to purchase a Rolex. I've been drooling over 16610's for over a year now. Knowing now, I won't be able to purchase a 16610 right away. I have been told by a collector in Italy, to get an entry piece first. Such as a old date (1500, 1601). Then work my way into a 16610. ![]() I would just like to hear your comments and suggestions. ![]() Thanks! ![]()

I say go for the one you love and get the 16610 Sub!
No regrets and not having to save for two watches. WIN WIN in my book!

Patience is a virtue Adam.
It's up to you, but I would say keep saving and you will get the 16610 sooner. Congrats on the job. |

You'll get to the Sub quicker if you just save for it, but you might have more fun saving with a Rolex on your wrist.
If you saw something inexpensive that you liked, then I'd suggest you pick it up. It may delay getting the Sub a bit, but it will partially fulfill your desire for a Rolex in the meantime. But you really have to like it - no point in picking up something inexpensive that you won't wear or appreciate. |

You've gone this long. Keep working, keep saving. It will be a great day when you get it. No sense postponing the big day by spending 'Submariner fund' money on something else.

As they have all said before... buy the watch you dream about and have had your eyes on it for so long. Why make yourself wait longer by purchasing an "entry level" watch just because its cheaper, you will still be dreaming about that sub take it from me I know this first hand... I bought a watch that I thought was a great deal but still kept dreaming about the sub I always wanted. In the end I ended up selling the watch I bought for a loss so I could finally get the sub =)...
Goodluck and keep your eyes on the prize you truly want... and I hope you get to wear it for many many years in great health |

Echo what others have said. You will only have one "first Rolex", so it should be the one you want and not the one you settled for.
Good luck and congrats on your first job. ![]()

First, congrats! Great that you have a job you're enjoying.
If you buy a Rolex, will you have any money left for anything in the near future? Like a car, anything for living expenses or tuition? If the answer is no or close to no, take the opportunity to develop your saving habit. |

Congratulations on your first job Adam (although I've told you this before!
![]() ![]() As for the Rolex, I'd go with the 16610 right away (provided that you will have some money left in the end, of course!), there's no "entry level Rolex" to me, there's just the one you want at the moment you want. ![]()

I would go for the 16610 that you have always wanted. Otherwise, save a few $$ and buy a 14060 for a similar look and feel.
