I've worn my GMT Iic in all kinds of conditions. I wear it swimming in the jacuzzi and yesterday it was 106 in Tucson. I've also worn it bear hunting in a driving rain and then snow. If water can't get in how can sand? Whether I'm following the stock market or on a trip I find the rotating dial, the GMT hand, and the ability to easily change times zones very useful. As for the bling; my wife likes it!

I love my GMTIIC! However I wear my ExI (39MM) to work.

Leave the PCLs and put the watch on a NATO or ZULU. Save the PCL bracelet for when you are not in the sandbox and safely home, which is my prayer for you and all similarly situated. On that note, Godspeed and thank you for your service.

Too bad you don't like the Explorer as the fine sand under a rotating bezel is not an issue with the Explorer- nor is anything pertaining to the ceramic bezel. Get the one that speaks to you and put it on a strap when deployed.

All this GMT talk has me wondering (slightly OT).....anyone know if Omega is planning a GMT version of the new Seamaster Professional ceramic?

I think the GMT IIc is a great choice for you.

Don't worry about scratches, they're inevitable anyway. At least yours will have a more interesting story behind them.

I'm also of the opinion that you shouldn't brush your PCLs. I would either wear it as is or change to a strap. Just my $0.02 - obviously go with whatever makes you happy.

I used my GMT with a RubberB strap on this trip through the Grand Canyon. I too had the PCL brushed out (review here).

I have one little scratch on the bezel insert that Rolex pointed out when it went in for its five year service (could barely see it). Other than that, my GMT is both my travel and cycling watch (with a RubberB, soon and Everest strap).

is it true that brushing the PCL voids the warranty if you try to send it in? I forget where i read that... I think it was a post on TRF.

it does not void the warranty. however, you will get it back the way they sold it so you can say bye bye to the brushed and hello to PCL's.

Agreed... I try to keep them nice and shiny but it's inevitable that they'll swirl and scratch up... Nature of wearing a watch or anything lol, it will show use !

I love the PCL's for this piece, it dresses it up yet it's still rugged...
