First Attempt at New Thread with Old Rolex

Hi All:

After a couple of PMs with BlondeNV I remembered I bought 2 old Rolexes when I started looking at watches. My goal, and I had forgotten that as well, was to find a California Dial Bubble Back. I bought these as a warm up just to see if I really wanted a watch. I did not wear a watch and wasn't sure if I would like it. Unfortunately, the Internet being what it is and the world of watches being what it is, I soon forgot about the Bubble Back and was looking up other brands.

I knew and know almost nothing about the watches. I got them because I thought they possessed an aura (as much of an aura as can be transmitted through a computer).

The first one was from a person in Sacramento (who still posts watches on another forum) and even though it was not very clean I liked its casual premise (and I had never seen a honeycomb dial before). I also like seeing numbers on the dial.

The second was from a person in Malaysia who guaranteed I would be happy with it. It's dressier. At the time I was attending biweekly meetings in a swank law firm and noticed all the men wore gold Rolex watches. So I got this one.

Oops. To avoid exceeding the limit I will post the honeycomb dial watch here and the other one in another thread. Sorry about that.

Cheers.

RC

Thank you.

If I can decipher the faint numbers between the lugs I will post the model number. Looking at vintage Rolex is forcing me to buy a loupe.

White dial explorers are very hard to come by.

My guess would be a 60's Explorer, gilded case with a Reference 5506.

Hi All:

Thank you very much for these comments. I'm mystified because this watch was not interesting to anybody when I got it. Tastes change and will probably change again. I contacted the person I bought it from and he was going to look it up when I send him a picture (he's on another forum and I have not figured out how to post a picture on that one).

Again, thank you.

Thanks, Doc. Since you are fan of older vintage Rolexes, it came from a nice person near Sacramento, CA, who concentrates on them.
