Keep the old Sub, put it in your safe deposit box at the bank. Forget about for ten years, sell it when it's worth even more money.

I would also take a close look at the gmtII-c, as it has the best wrist presence in my opinion.

Keep old sub and wear it on NATO strap for weekends, buy a new sports model sub, gmt, or exp. 1.

While the GMT II is a great looking watch, I'd destroy the PCL and clasp in a week. I desk drive to much.

I do have a Nato strap just sitting...

I did think of putting the old one in the safe and selling it for more in a few years.

Guess I'll just have to try one on and then decide. I'd be in no rush to sell the old sub. If I went with a new one, I can see what I think in a few months after wearing it.

So it would seem the consensus is to get the new one vs just keeping (wearing) the old one?

I had a 1998 Coke GMT as my first, then bought a DSSD two years ago, followed by a Hulk three months ago. I love the Glidelock, ceramic bezels etc and hardly wore the GMT for 18 months. Now I find myself wearing it more and more. It has a different feel to my modern ones and I would now regret if I'd got rid of it.
As many have suggested, keep the old sub, get a new one and if later you find you don't wear the old one you can sell it. I also agree with the comment to get a Hulk!!!!!!

Look - who cares what other people say. You're tired of it - sell it.

I think the clasp on the new sub is just so darn great. I'd do it.

Noooo! Keep it. You're well on your way to having a vintage sub, one owner from new. Just stick it out for a few more years.

It's a Keeper IMHO ...

I hate to say it but Rolex really loses me with the newest line. I really prefer the Day-Date I as well. Maybe my smaller wrist dictates but the latest models are just too "in your face" for my taste. Cheers -Ronbo

You might as well sell to get the subC, cause when you get it, you won't wear the old one...that's what happened to me. New one is very substantial in comparison.

Been here, done that. I absolutely love the new Sub C's...almost as much as I love my holes series 16610. But, i dont love my Sub C nearly as much as I miss the 16610 I bought new in 2000 and sold for a Sub C to start the process of this madness to begin with.

Now, if you followed this, what I am trying to say is: absolutely keep the old one for sentimental reasons, but buy the new one. If after a year or two your not missing the old one at all, sell it. Even better, buy the Hulk, and you will have two amazing watches that I promise you will won't ever want to get rid of!

Putting aside emotional/sentimental considerations, I much prefer the current Sub Date 116610

The bracelet and clasp feel like 'real engineering' and the maxi dial is nice (especially with blue lume). The watch is still 40 mm but certainly has more 'presence' than the old 16610

If you want something a little larger, perhaps also consider the Explorer II (42 mm) and the Deepsea. The GMT II C is also very nice (still at 40 mm)

I did the same thing also. The 16610 is a great watch but for me, I prefer the 116610. No regrets here either

If your wrist is a bit larger, why not get the 42mm Explorer II. I have had both and much prefer the Explorer II over the new Subs.
