My Explorer II is not happy :(
Guys, my everyday Explorer II which I love is sick again... about a year ago it was running about +10 seconds a day, I took it to RSC Beverly Hills and they kept the watch for almost 3 weeks - they said they gave it a complete overhaul. This watch is a 2006 model, D series I believe. Anyway, now for the weird part, this Sunday I'm out with the family and I realize my watch is 30 minutes SLOW. I think, hmmm, maybe I messed up when I adjusted the date, but on the 3185 you can do this without ever messing with the minutes. Now this morning I wake up (I sleep with watch on wrist) and the watch is 40 minutes slow... last night it was fine. This is pretty bad. I'm beginning to think my watch is cursed! Off again I go to RSC but I have to say, in the year and a half I've owned this watch it has been trouble.

Sorry to hear about your problems. Nothing worse than having something of this quality not perform as expected. That watch should not have needed anything done for years. Don't know if it's possible to get a "lemon" from Rolex. Sure hope not! Good luck!

It's possible to get a "lemon" from anybody. Sometimes they slip through the cracks. Not saying yours is a lemon, but I would have it looked at again.

Take it back to the Beverly Hills RSC. I recall a thread here with a similar problem and can be easily fixed. But you're lucky you're local so don't have to add two weeks for shipping.

Sounds like a balance issue. Did you drop the Rolex??
Could also be a problem with the rotor. Have you tested the longevity of the power reserve? Either way, back to RSC it goes!

Have you wound it a full 40 turns?
Perhaps it is not winding while on your wrist. Some individuals are more active than others and the watch depends on physical movement to wind. |

I don't see how after a year and a half with this watch on, it would all of a sudden be 40 minutes slow, twice in 2 days? Not a chance. Anyhow, I walked it into RSC BH, showed the woman my receipt from being there in MARCH 27, 2007 when they decided a FULL overhaul was needed So now, 8 months later, my watch is non functional. The woman took it to the back to put it on the 'timer', when she came out she said "Oh dear, have you dropped this watch, it isn't running". I said it is running, I see the second hand moving She said, "NO, I mean it isn't even registering on the timing machine". Oh dear is right.

Well, they called and said it was being sent up for 'repair'. Told me an ETA of a week and a half... will report back. I did ask the woman for a new watch she said sorry, that is not our policy... we can fix it. I told her this is the SECOND time within 1.5 years with a NEW watch! I told her that when my warranty is up, then im screwed if this happens again! She told me they would take the past problems into consideration if there was ANOTHER problem... anyone know anything about Rolex's policy regarding issues like this?

Perhaps I would document this in writing to your AD, so that if there is a further issue then you will hopefully have some redress when the watch is out of warranty.
Perhaps ask them if they are prepared to offer a further 2 year waranty, if you don't ask you don't get. f |

Man that isn't good news. It is difficult to say what has gone wrong, but I'm hoping you can put this down to just some plain bad luck, and that run will be at an end when your watch comes back to you this time.

It won't cost me anything as it is still under warranty for another few months. I have been dying for the new GMT but think I need to build up some cash reserves first I think I'll wait til Basel and see what is in store for Rolex next year. In the mean time, my Black Monster is getting some wrist time
