A little Basel and Pricing speculation...
As we move into the start of 2008, does anybody else find themselves putting off any commitment to a new Rolex, just to wait and see if there is a new or changed model from Basel? I wonder if this phenomonen has an efect on Rolex Sales???
Anyway, my questions are related to pricing of new models should they eventuate. 1. Should we see an upgraded Submariner at Basel 2008 (as has been discussed as a possiblilty) what would the expected pricing be? i.e. have previous upgrades, such as the new SS GMT Ceramic, seen much of a price rise from the MSRP of the older model they replace, or are they in the same ball park (more specifically, do you think a new SubDate Ceramic will still sell for around US$5200???) 2. What have prices on the older model that may be in AD done, once the newer models hit the shelves? Again the SS GMT Master II might be a good indicator here. Are Older style SS GMT Master II's selling for a premium now they are replaced, or are they being discounted? Cheers |

I for my part am considering getting a Milgauss GV this year, but I won't order one until after the Basel fair since something even nicer might turn up.
We can but speculate what will happen to the Sub Date, but IF there are going to be updates to this model, I think the YG will get them first, then the TT and finally the SS Sub Date; just like it happened with the GMT IIc. The old-style GMT II would probably be likely to be discounted at many AD's........so if you find one, grab it and get a good deal on it! In some years, the old GMT II will increase in value, just like any other discontinued model.

Yeah, I'm holding tight (well as best I can LOL!) untill we see what may be offered at Bazel.
As far as pricing on a new Sub reference, I would think something in line with the increase in pricing the 116710 experienced vs. the 16710....but that's just a guess. |

I waited 20 years and all they did was increase in price.
The newer models will make no difference to the value of the current range, so if somethin's smilin' get yer wallet out. f |
