I voted AT, there is nothing in this particular IWC model that really appeals to me.

I wouldn't choose either personally but if I have to choose one or the other it would be the AT.

Between the two in the poll - the IWC.

I own the AT8500 an it is stunning. The clear winner in this case and a strong contender against any watch.

Both comparable in price, performance & style albeit "technically" one is a diver and the other a pilot's watch.
I would go with the Aqua Terra only because of the ETA-OMEGA collaboration 8500 movement. I have no issue with the ETA 2892 that IWC uses as its been modified ** now by ETA as opposed to IWC, but exclusive to IWC nonetheless** I put the ETA 2892 in 'stock chrometer grade' on par with the Rolex 3135 for that matter. The 8500 movement sets a new standard IMHO.

Never got the chance to circle back and say thanks for all the varied & interesting insights. Looks like the Omega wins here by a fairly wide margin!

Not sure if I will make a move or not but appreciate the input nonetheless.

One thing is for sure... polls seem to be a good way to get new threads started :-)

Well I am a chronic flipper and I feel like I have owned just about every sport watch out there by IWC, Omega and Rolex, not to mention a long Panerai faze. These days I try to think outside the box when it comes to brands, and I find the research of new brands fun and interesting.

Had this one and flipped it.

Really enjoyed the IWC also.

Ended up with this one to replace the IWC.

The Muhle Glashutte is a fantastic watch that I am actually wearing as I type this. It is so much like the IWC but a lot cheaper and the movement is stunning, and incredibly accurate. Muhle does so much work to their movements and they are such a amazing brand that flies under the radar. People who know watches know of Muhle Glashutte, and people who own them think that they got the best bang for the buck for a great watch.

My only comment is that if you are looking at the IWC, but the MG and save a few thousand. If you are looking at the AT, buy it on the bracelet and pick up some straps down the road.

BTW, the AT's hands just bugged me. The hour hand needed to be larger with more lume.

That looks like an ETA base movement with Muhle Glashutte's own rotor and swan neck regulator? Please confirm. Thank you!

The IWC has the base ETA, Muhle does not. This Muhle has a Sellita base with lots of tweaks. The Sellita is very similar to a base ETA, and just as reliable. It is a true workhorse just like the time proven base ETA's.
