Daytona black dial with black strap as an office watch?

Would this be blasphemy: a Daytona being worn with a conservative alligator strap in a conservative office environment? I understand it's a "sporty" watch given the chrono functions, but I see a lot of people in offices wearing all sorts of weird watches. I'm sure a Daytona can get by? What's the correct view on this? Thanks for any thoughts.

Have to agree its just a watch wear what you want no matter whether if its on bracelet whatever type or strap or Nato. And I would doubt if anyone would notice whatever watch you was wearing or even what it was on unless you make a point of showing it.

I like watches on a strap. My next Daytona will be a WG Black dial on a black strap.

The Daytona comes with straps as an option so it's definitely a good combination. I don't care how conservative your office is, the Daytona should fit in just fine, strap or not! It sits very flat on the wrist which is perfect for fitting under cuffs/suit. I personally don't like wearing straps for extended periods but others swear by the comfort.

If you're considering a strap over bracelet because of bracelet scratches, don't bother. The Daytona is pretty much the most scratch prone watch Rolex do, and the bezel will pick up fine scratches just from your cuff fabric brushing against it over time. The ceramic ones on a leather strap must itch the scratch free OCD in almost all cases.

Buy a watch because you like it. Forget about what others think!

PS: If it's a gold one you're looking at with the factory strap, the strap can't be changed for the bracelet later down the line. You're better off with the bracelet versions and putting your own strap on it, that way you can swap back if you want to.

I wear my Daytona to work all the time, not sure who makes up these silly rules? Wear what you like, no one notices or cares

Have to agree. I have a loose code I stick to. G-Shocks for exercise and DIY - nothing else. Sub for general smart wear (office, day-to-day etc) and Perigraph as a dressier watch for dinners, entertaining clients etc. A few others get sprinkled in for a change, but that's the hard core group.

I know it's not great etiquette, and some would shudder at the thought of a Sub with a suit, but to be honest it works well for me and most people just don't even notice watches. Although, it has to be said, most people I meet through work are quite into them. Generally they wear sporty Swiss watches to the office though, so all's well!

A long way around saying wear what you like, I guess!

It'll give it a different look. More dressier. Nice...I like it.

Even on a strap it gets noticed at the office. Like most modern Rolex, the Daytona has shiny/bling qualities. End links curtesy of Etur.

I don't think the steel version looks that great on a strap... wear it, but keep it on the bracelet.

In my Rome office a Daytona on bracelet is standard suit attire for the watch nuts. Basic rule of the Daytona, it looks good with anything, the rules are not important.

Thanks folks. A black dial with a black strap (maybe ABP for some bling) is what I covet. Love the idea of no rules. A strap certainly tones down the daytona.

Question - what's a good place to get the oem crown buckle? Rolex themselves?

I think Daytona is a great watch to dress up or down, great with suite and also with shorts.

Just where would you like! Only things I would say about a Daytona is that the bezel will definitely pick up scuffs from colliding with your desk, if you wear it to an office; and it would be remarkably irritating not to be able to see the date at a glance when I'm at work.
