I have many quartz watches (new and vintage Seiko) and like them a lot. They are cheap, accurate, everyday watches. Nothing wrong with that at all.

But they're not a Rolex. I bought my Rolex because it's mechanical, because of all of the quality engineering that's inside it. I bought into the Sub legend.

No way would I buy a quartz Rolex - wouldn't buy any quartz over a few hundred £s - and you can bet your life that any Rolex quartz would be in the thousands (as everything Rolex always is!).

Same reason I won't buy a Seamaster quartz. It doesn't compute!

How to destroy brand value 101:

Take a product with a fanatical following of enthusiasts and with the means to afford said product, and dilute it with innovations that almost wrecked the company only a few decades back.

Drop the price by 50% to make it even less exclusive!

Watch with a tear rolling down your eye as the brand you carefully built over 50 years and engineered with infinite care, manufacturing capability and millions of dollars of R&D devalues in front of you to join the unwashed masses of the watch fraternity.

I had a Seamaster quartz. It slowly destroyed my soul over time...

So I don't know how people would react to the ticking second hand of a quartz Rolex. Most people don't even know Rolex made a quartz watch before.
Same with the Constellation...
