Vintage Rolex Parts and Watches - Where on the bay?

Hi Guys,

I was wondering since Ebay oh well is just Ebay, has anyone used any specific sellers over and over again to buy:

A) Vintage Rolex Parts (i.e Top Hat 127, Superdome, Tritium Pearl, FF Bezel Inserts, etc.)
B) Vintage Watches that turned out ok.

Please let me know you feedback and if you don't want to post then just PM your recommendation as I just don't know where to look.

Thanks,
Wael

Yes there are good sellers on ebay. Just look at their feedback, review what they have sold and make sure they have been around for a few years. I know there are several guys here that sell on ebay.

ebay is sometimes a lucky find but mostly overpriced - and then there are the fakes - good luck!

+1 I purchased my new (old) Submariner clasp and my (soon to be) new (old) Pepsi bezel from members here at TRF.

Some good comes across the bay but a LOT of fakes.

Here is an example with a list of Tudor Subs 7928/7016/941x currently on the EvilBay

Good listings:
7928
5
7016
2
941x
4

Full blown Fakes:

7928:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROLEX-TUDOR-...item2581d6dad6

7016:
1 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Role...item2ec9f2a2af
2 http://www.ebay.com/itm/1960s-TUDOR-...item2eca0bd1c4

Major wrong parts

7016
Dial http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROLEX-TUDOR-...item417447588e

941x

Dial http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tudor-Made-B...item27d6f29db8

So out of 16 watches, 11 look OK and 5 are fakes / with Fake parts. The Fake parts are at minimum redials but not listed as such

Lol you missed the Tudor sub with that massive eagle on the dial. Fake garbage. I warned the seller of the 9411 you list above that his dial is bad. He is quite content to sell her knowing its not described properly.

When you don't study history, etc. There was a major loss of secondary market sellers in the 1980s and 1990s. The next generation isn't really that much more ethically-challenged than the old ones were, but the inter-web has conferred a certain god-like immunity to consequences of optimistic merchandise descriptions, etc. How this is related to the sellers being a new group is that often they are quite ignorant of what they think they are selling. That's not an excuse for fakes/rehabs/frankens, but it is a reality. Your own knowledge is the best defense, a good return policy doesn't hurt. I buy stuff all the time and get ripped off from time to time. That's life. It's not like face-to-face flea markets were bastions of ethics when that was the standard of trade.
