C7 Corvette reviews rolling in

The new Vette will be hitting the streets soon and the magazines are starting to get the new model for testing. Reviews thus far have been very positive. Cant wait for track times from around the world, especially Nurburgring.

I'm also from Detroit. A friend of mine at my golf club who is a GM exec has been driving a white Z51 preproduction model. Being somewhat of a car buff and have owned Corvettes in the past, I must say GM hit a home run with the C7. The car is just stunning.

Great value car, has never translated outside the US but would if GM put any effort to it, the rear end does not look as bad in this clip as it seemed in the original photos, the interior is a massive step up, would be happy to have one in my garage. the dialogue was great in the clip, pity they could not afford to do more than 4 or 5 scenes and keep repeating them very annoying.

I just dont like the rear end, everything else screams winner! It lost a touch of that exotic in the rear end that the front of the car has in spades and the previous two generation didnt lack either. Its got a camaro vibe going on in back

The rear of the car doesnt bother me that much. Being someone who is adverse to quick change I do prefer the signature round tail lights but its a very minor 'annoyance' for me. Dont really mind its a reminder of the Camaro though because they are, after all brothers sharing the same gene pool. I think most of us will get used to it pretty quickly. Just as fans of the original got used to the heracy of pop up headlights and then again when the C6 was introduced fans went crazy when the pop ups disapeared. The circle of car evolution I guess.

I'm giddy with anticipation of new models similar to the Z06 and ZR1 etc!

OK - for those anticipating - thought I'd use this thread to whet your appetite.

Now these cars were headed west on a major interstate...remember where they are made, and it is in the desert don't you think? We will figure out something.

Also note that there are different 5 spoke wheels under the covered cars...

So...either a massive display at Pebble Beach this weekend - or some Cali dealers are in luck!!!

PS: Not my pic - saw it on autoweek.com

Yes your right - I had a C6 in LeMons blue that C6 back with the round red tailights on that blue was perfect.

True American classic. One of the few American sports cars that can run with the Euro exotics for performance.

I hear that this can do 1g on the slalom.

Looked good when I saw it at the Toronto autoshow. Performance numbers coming out sound like business. My issue is that in the past, which mind you is not necessarily indicative of the future, gm products looked better in pictures than they felt in real life. BUT...it seems they woke up and fixed the interior so I cannot wait to get to drive one. I currently drive a 991 3.4 daily and this thing would dust me for less money, that I can live with though. : )

The wife and I sat in one while attending the ALMS race in Limerock, Ct a couple weeks ago. The interior is much better than the C6's. Im waiting for my dealer to get one in to test drive drive it. It likely wont replace my C6 but we'll see.

Price wise, in the US at least, amazing compared to the EU sport cars pricing . . .

Yep, saw a rag top mule today!

Group of 6 mules, going the other way, last one in the line.

Good looking car. As a piece of styling, maybe a bit heavy behind the rear wheel which could have been alleviated with a crease in that panel. I'd have stayed with the traditional round taillights.
Corvettes are an icon and styling-wise have a proud history with the outstanding C2 & C3 models which I always think were spectacular.
These days they have the mechanical and handling sophistication to be a great all round package and value for the US$.

same as you. detroit area. without looking at the car up close. yeah, its the bomb. the only thing i dont like about it so far is the god awful cheesey stingray badge on the side...lol. gimmicky.

but i also debadge all of my vehicles anyway,so im probably biased

also, everyone is excited about these "base model" perf. numbers. wait until they unleash the zr1 type version of this car..omg. it will absolutely rip

The C6 retails for $240,000 in Australia.
Dropping the price below insanity would be a good start!

I know many peoples' comments about the Rear Taillights is negative on and about the new Vette...but did anyone think that the design was first meant to be used on the new Generation C7 Vette but the car was still in the design phase...at the time. And Chevy Exes' liked the change so much that they decided to put them on the Camaro first.....

Secondly, many people do not like change and become very critical when it occurs...but I think most people given time will adjust to the new look or hate it even more.....so there you go!!!
Also you can see variations of this design on most all of the new Chevy models.....

Take care and be good.....Leo
