Quality or quantity???
Most of us here have one, two, or more Rolex'. When adding to your collection is another Rolex a "must have" or would you consider other timepieces of maybe "lesser quality" but still of "high quality"? I think you know what I mean, maybe an Omega, TAG, B&M, JLC, etc. Is Rolex the only brand you will consider when adding to the collection, or would you make a sacrifice in order to possibly have a few more watches? Some of the other brands are not that much of a sacrifice when all things are considered.

Right now I'm wearing a German watch of lesser mojo than Rolex. I've come to weigh each watch on it's own merits, not by brand name.

I'd love to add one or two high-end watches, but Rolex are a relative bargain in comparison.

I wouldn't say that Jaeger Le Coultre are a lesser brand than Rolex...in fact I know many who would argue that their movements are much better!!! I personally would love a JLC.
I wouldn't go for an Omega...simply because I'm not a fan of their aesthetic qualities. I personally like the new Tag carrera...the black bezel gives it that 'Paul Newman' quality yet if I was going to spend a grand and a half on another watch, I'd put it towards one I really want like the Zenith Chronomaster Open or JLC Master Calender. Rolex I'm getting a bit fed up with...I think their aftersales service is a real letdown...you try talking to them about a 51 year old watch! I own two Rolex watches....unless they produce a ceramic GMT Pepsi or I get my hands on a SS Daytona, I don't think I'll be buying any more. J |

At some point in time you just gotta' ask yourself "Where am I going with this obsession/passion for watches. (or whatever)"
The thrill of just having a bunch of watches faded for me a few years ago when I could count over 50 from Timex to Rolex.. So I felt I needed some sort of organizatikon in my thinking.. and no more cheap bargain watches.. Today I have a plan..........sort of.. . I have a Mickey collection in one box.. They don't see much wrist time, but they remind me of my early days and I love 'em so they're keepers. . I have an Omega box.... My dad's 60's Seamaster, given to me in the early 70's after much use and abuse started me on these, The Speedmaster and the Seamaster heritage is one too great to ignore.....Great brand wsith great history... For me, all Omegas are keepers. . I have an Odds and Ends watch box.. This has some top-quality watches I have found that just don't have a theme or direction, but have some meaning to me.. Those I just can't toss .......yet.. . Finally, the Rolex box. An example or two of each model that I have always desired, or used in my job's, hobbies, activities and life.. to me Rolex is simply the King and epitomizes my love for these little mechanical miracles.. So, my answer is...I've kept my options open to add to one, or all these collections, if the right piece comes along..
