Incoming from Japan!

After being lucky enough to win Gaijin's most excellent Japanese Rolex Mag TRF Givewaya Bonanza last week, the prize arrived yesterday.

Only in Japan would the magazine-buying public have the same level of forensic fascination with Rolex that we have here on TRF, and this magazine reflects that very well. It covers everything from the Playtona down to the humble 6694 and its inner workings.

Arigato gozaimasu Tom-san!

Some beautiful layouts from therein....

Great magazine! Do you read and understand Japanese? If so, I'll bet the commentary is cool.

Man, I would be really frustrated not being able to understand the text. Nonetheless, the pics are awesome.

I can read a very small amount as chinese characters are used in Japan, but the pics are great to browse, along with used prices in the many illustrated shop ads!

What is the meaning of the graphics under each model in your second picture, the ones with the concentric circles and the blue pentagons of varying shape?

One can almost imagine a self-assessment quiz on the first page of the magazine that assigns you a score in each of 5 categories, which allows you to then plot your own personal pentagon. Then you find the Rolex with a pentagon that most closely matches yours, and that is your ideal spiritual match.

Or not.

Awesome. Glad you received it Adam. Japan has a word for people like us and it is not WIS. It is "Otaku." It is not a bad meaning. Just means a person that takes his or her hobby to the next level. Roughly translated it means "geek about something" whatever that may be.

This magazine as Adam said in its technical detail and forensic examination of Rolex really caters to the Rolex Otaku.

Great pics Adam. Like was mentioned these magazines come out quarterly and they are always packed with pictures whether you can read Japanese or not, the pictures are always amazing.

I will be giving another one away someday soon.
