Icon4 Run Away!!!

Hello there!

Err... I'm sorry to say, but that dial has no business being in that case at all.
The dial comes from a Speedmaster Automatic Mark III or IV that carries the coveted Omega/Lemania 1040, and the Mark III only comes in the "pilot-shaped" tonneau cases, and the Mark IV only comes in cases that resemble the Mark II Speedy!

The case shown on this picture is a Seamaster case... the little blue arrow on the silver 24-hrs-disc at 9 also indicates that the watch originally was a (probably silver-dialed) Seamaster Automatic of the mid-70s. The movement underneath is the 1040, but the dial is not correct... and it also has the tachymetric scale missing that is underneath the crystal...

So it is a bit of a "put-together"... if you haven't bought it, I'd say... stay away!

For an overview of how the original watch (as a Speedmaster version) that came with the dial should look like, please look at this article by the great Chuck Maddox: Mark-Series Speedies
(I hope it is ok to post the link here).

The case shown on your picture should be a ref # 176.007 if I'm correct, and the sure thing is that it is a definitive put-together...

More so, if the dial really says "Mark II" then somebody messed with it as well (by removing the 3rd "I" of the "Mark III" inscription. So there's just about everything wrong with this watch.

Please don't get me wrong, but if you don't own it (yet)... run away fast!!!!

I hope this helps.

If you need more information, please let me know.

B/R

Icon4 Here's a pic of what it should look like

Hello again,

I hope it is ok to put up the following information here.
I'm only stating the following information in order to help a fellow TRF member,
and not to promote a sale (a sale that is that I do not have anything to
do with
).

To see how the original watch should look like please look up the following
item# at the "well known" auction-site: 140194708646

Like I wrote above, I'm only providing the above item information so I can help
TRF-member Stratton. If this information violates the rules, please proceed
accordingly... I just want to help...
