Hi all,

thought i'd share a watch i picked up today. New replacement case, bracelet, service dial and hands from RSC NY. date wheel has the open "6" and "9"s

Nice. Did you buy it as a fixer-upper and get it serviced, or buy it like this? By 'picked up' I guess you mean bought, so that answers that. Congrats anyway.

bought it like this. last overhauled in 2010. box and papers too!

hmm. to be honest i am not too familiar with current market prices. got it at about 6.3k us$ directly from a collector - full service history/papers, etc.

Sounds like a fair price, but it's hard to judge with a vintage watch that is mostly all new. I like it, I have a 5513 with service dial and hands that I use for daily wear.

yeah some folks cringe at the words "replacement" or "service" -but i'm more interested in the word genuine. ;)

Service hands and dials might not be the most exclusive, but it still makes a fine watch.

By the way. I've just realized that the service dial says "Swiss - T < 25" but it's definitely luminova. Is this something I should be concerned about? I've read that rolex no longer provided 'tritium' marked dials but they're marked 'Swiss' or 'Swiss made' instead. Any 1680 owners care to shed some light ln this?

I had a service dial on my 1665. I know it's not the same model, but the service dials are rare and it may help shed light. Same thing though, might be pretty standard.

so your service dial is a luminova dial which is marked as a tritium one as well? that's a relief.

Yeah, and they aren't easy to find for comparison.
