Chronometer number punched on papers

I have a 1991 year Rolex EXP II polar that came with a punched papers with the chronometre number only- (553xxxx). I have a few questions that I hope to get answered from one of our more experienced Rolex experts.

Here goes:
Do these types of papers sometimes include the serial# on it...?
Does this 553xxxx number appear anywhere on the movement...?
Could I possibly have the wrong papers with my watch...?

I thought I bought a watch with papers showing the serial on it...- oh well then.

Here is a sample photo from the internet that resembles my papers:

That's a blank warranty paper. The serial number ofthe watch should be punched at top right. Buyer and dealer details should be written or stamped lower down in space provided.

Yes I think that paper looks about right for a 5.5 mill serial...late 70s/early 80s.

I thought I bought a watch with papers showing the serial on it...- oh well then.

Here is a sample photo from the internet that resembles my papers:
1.. These papers always include the serial number.. That is what is punched.

2.. No, the case serial number does not appear on the movement; the movement has it's own unique serial number.

3.. Possibly, Certainly if the punched serial does not match your case serial - unless you have a service replacement case: ser# 44xxxx or 47xxxx
edit: Ooops, never mind this one.. I see you say '91 so that would be an E or X serial prefix.. A 55xxxx serial would be way back in the late 70's..

Hey Thanks, Larry, Mon and Adam.

This place has so much knowledge on things I find interesting...

I'll ponder the fate of my Polar now with this information....

Polar

The polar underwent a movement service. Even though the papers are useless, this is still a nice white dial watch with a newer movement compared to my other watches..., The sapphire crystal is also a nice feature:

If you've had it checked out and are happy with it, don't sweat the papers. Just my

You can't wear boxes and papers anyway

Adam,

Wow, well I do know for a fact that the watch is good, but given the issues with papers, and now the boxes, I think I may return the whole package and pick up a Tudor Heritage Chrono like yours, or perhaps an Omega Planet Ocean 2500...

Luckily I bought this from a fellow collector who will take it back...

thanks guys...

Yeah, sorry to be the bearer of bad news there. I flag fake boxes from ebay in the Watchout section quite a bit, and this is a typical example. Maybe you can get a couple of hundred refund? Otherwise, yes, the THC gray is fantastic.

no problem..

Hey No problem, I appreciate the facts. This forum is great. I will check out the boxes more closely next time.

I also asked the mods to remove my pictures on this thread.

Keep your eye out for an incoming thread; If I return this watch, I may just pickup another soon...

Al

papers and box...

Papers were useless, and boxes were bad.

I destroyed them both and learned a good lesson.
