At first it may look like it, however hen they are side by side there is a big difference in the tone of each material.

I absolutely love white gold for the reason you mention. It does look like steel to the untrained eye and general population. Under the radar but once you see it next to steel or pick it up watch out. It is stunning!

I know what you mean, but the WG sub is awesome! In person you can see an amazing yellowish hue! It really is beautiful!

Those of you that think the WG models look like steel have obviously never seen them side by side. I have a couple shots of my 116520 and 116509 side by side, but my Tapatalk is acting up and won't let me post them. The WG has a slight yellow hue, weighs about 50% more, and has a texture completely different from steel. Some here have done a great job of capturing the yellowish tone of the WG Sub.
For those that don't want white gold because it won't get you noticed like yellow gold will are buying your timepieces for the wrong reason. You should be buying your watch for YOU because YOU love it, not for strangers, coworkers, or family members to notice you are wearing a gold watch. If that is your goal, you may as well just pick up something gold plated as you will not appreciate what gold offers over steel and the $28,300 difference between the 116610LN and 116619LB will be far from worth it for you. If I can get Tapatalk to cooperate I will post my two Daytona's shortly so that you may be able to spot the differences between the two. There will be no substitute for having them in your hands side by side though. |

Coming from a huge WG fan, it's clear that to 99% of people there will be no discernible difference.
Get what speaks to you. There is no wrong answer.

Please, get off the high horse. The vast majority if jewelry as a whole is for other people to notice. Because someone wants others to notice their watch, car, belt, diamond ring, jeans, or whatever does not mean they are buying it for the wrong reason. They are buying it for "their" reason. And the is nothing wrong about that.

If you buy your things based on the opinion others will have of it or you because of it, more power to you. Impressing other people or attracting strangers attention because of my belongings really isn't my cup of tea. There are some people out there that buy Ferraris, Porsches, and Lamborghinis for their amazing engineering and ability to perform on the road/track rather than so people turn their heads when the car goes by. Just food for thought. No reason to get so sore in the rear over nothing. |

this reminds me of a quote that is on someone's signature on this site. something about being pulled down to someones level when arguing with certain types. that said, i will leave it at this: you blatantly telling someone that they are buying a watch for the wrong reason is not nearly the same as pointing out the obvious which is that people buy and present themselves with jewelry as a status symbol. especially as we are talking about a watch brand that is quite possibly the most recognizable status symbol in the world. after all "a crown for every achievement" ![]() ![]()

It is also how the watch looks on you. I tried on WG and Plat and YG Daytonas and the wife strongly preferred the WG and Plat to all other metals. Since I generally wear SS or TT, she thinks full YG looks "too much" on me.
So you should get someone you trust to look at them when you try on the different metals. Sometimes it is hard to see how a watch looks on you (with the kind of clothes you normally wear and your skin tone), whereas another person can give you input. Not a sales person, who will tell you whatever they can to sell the watch they want to sell. |

$30,000+ is a HUGE purchase for most people and with that pricetag the buyer's satisfaction with the item should always be ahead of everything else. The court of public opinion should run a very distant second. I meant nothing more and nothing less. Hope that clears it up. |

i think its a personal thing, If i had the money i would buy a WG sub, but with my current situation i don't think the difference would justify the extra cost.
Ive been wanting a rose gold daytona for a while after a indian friend got one, it works well with his dark caramel skin but not so much with my pasty white complexion lol |

When you eventually do see one in the flesh at an AD and try it on, you'll see it's very different to a stainless steel Sub. Heavier for a start, and as mentioned previously, has a different hue to it. The 116619LB is absolutely beautiful - if I had the funds I wouldn't hesitate in snapping one up in a heart beat!
