Besides the red bezel, that looks nothing like the BB.

Naw, looks nothing like a BB. Shinola tends to do their own designs anyway

The watches are assembled in Detroit (including the movement). The movements are from Switzerland (Ronda), the straps are made in the USA, and the case and sapphire comes from China.

Have to agree. If we go down this path, any diver with a black bezel would be a homage to the sub or the FF.

They are supposed to be decent watches.. I like the idea of putting folks to work.

Funny though.. a few weeks ago people freaked about BLNR and Tag. The reactions here seem different this go around. lol

Founded by the same guy who came up with the Fossil brand. The emphasize is on brand... I'll take my money elsewhere.

Yep. Have a couple. This is one of their LE.
Their quality is wonderful. Solid build, sapphire crystal, people like to knock a $1000 quartz watch.

My local Rolex AD carries Shinola and they appear to be nicely finished watches.

The way they're marketed is a bit of a turn-off for me... As if they're painstakingly built from the ground up with motor-city ingenuity, in-house motors under the hood, and good ol' fashioned elbow grease.

I don't think they ever make the claim to in-house ever but I bet the layman who purchases one thinks it's 100% American made with Detroit on the dial. Meanwhile, we have the real deal, RGM, that's barely a blip on US radar and the closest to haute horlogerie America has been in decades. Then again, 99% of the US population would rather not pay a premium for the real thing.

I don't necessarily think they're overpriced for quartz as I'm about to purchase a $1000 quartz (albeit an in house 7c46). But they aren't being ambitious enough by only using quartz and think they'll ever produce any in-house movements. I think they're designs are quite nice and if they took a cue from Archimede watch company I think they'd be an even bigger hit amongst watch enthusiasts.

I have handled a couple of Shinolas and they are quality, heavy watches, the 3 hand models have the heft of a Chronograph.

Now if you want to see a blatant copy of the Black Bay, look no further then this.

I have a Shinola Runwell with a white face about 42mm. It is quartz, cost $550 and it is a readable nice fashion watch. Not auto, not a work of art, but very pleasant. Try one on, they are widely available.

As I wrote on another thread a minute ago, I'd rather spend a few extra bucks on a Weiss... more made in the US than Shinola and they are mechanical. I'm not really interested in quartz.
