Hi All...

I did a search & didnt find a specific thread on wine. We have quite a lot of wine lovers here & I thought a thread simply about Wine would be a fine idea. Let's share what we like or love & coincidentally, what we don't like or love. Doesn't matter about price point. I'm not an expert about the specifics of wine, I just know what tastes good & what doesn't. If you want to expand on why you like the wine, do so, will be interesting to read.

I like this one because isn't so heavy you have to have it with a meal. Reasonably priced as well.

Judy thats the only wine I buy! A friend recommended it to me a while back. Its so good yet inexpensive that Ive had no desire to drink anything else. Its also fun telling your friends your going to have a menage a trois that night

A nice surprise is this Nebbiolo for Cetto (Mexico); it is a beautiful everyday wine with classic Nebbiolo taste; and price wise (under $12us), pretty good.

I first tried this Sauvignon at Pappadeaux, and was surprised with how easily it pairs with seafood (for a non-fruity option). Here with a home made tuna steak with caper sauce...

Well I don't know, mostly wine from California I like wine but don't know much about it. As long as it's red and not sweet it's good for me

I really enjoyed a Malbec from Dona Paula Estate from 2011. I would probably say that it is one of the more memorable bottles I've had. Generally I am a fan of blends (Judy, your choice is pretty good given the price point) and Pinot Noirs.

Judy, speaking as a wine lover who is in the bar and restaurant business, all I can say is what a fabulous initiative. Almost as fabulous as the name of your favorite wine!

By the way...I mainly drink Pinot Noirs from Burgundy.

Gerardo..I'm going to say this once & will apply to the dozens of posts you make here...Gorgeous scenery. Gorgeous food, & excellent choice of beverages.

Clive, I didnt know you were in the wine biz. When I toured France, I was in Burgundy. Beautiful scenery & amazing wine. I was only 23 at the time & had no idea what I was drinking. It was more quantity versus quality. I was on a tour with 36 Australians, 2 Americans, 2 fellow Canadians, Belgian bus driver & English tour guide. To say it was an enlightening 3 weeks is putting it mildly. I think I've evolved in the past 25 yrs. lol

My favourite wine is Cabernet Sauvingnon. Although lately I'm finding myself trying more blends. Searching for something lighter.

Yes...Menage A Trois wine is a cheap thrill.

Here's one I shared with my SIL on Sunday night. Also light & great on it's own. My SIL & brother were in Vegas last week & she said this was on sale for $8. Excellent for that price!

Thank you! I will try the MAT for sure. I do enjoy pretty much all variety of grapes, it depends on meal and company.

I've been a wine aficionado all my adult life (45yrs) and consider myself fortunate to live in a country that makes wine as good as anywhere in the world.
There is no style or variety that I dislike and I consider it my sacred duty to consume a representative sample of the best on offer although somewhat restricted by price.
(I won't pay silly money just because something has a big reputation)
The sheer variety that is available these days is staggering compared to 40 years ago and I struggle just to make a decision when I step into my local wine-barn.
I will start by posting a picture of Australia's best red wine Penfold's Grange Hermitage.
Unfortunately out of my price range these days at $650. on release, but I have enjoyed my share in the past, appropriately aged for 20yrs or so.

California cabs are a special occasion wine these days for me, my true passion is Italian wines. I love them all! Sure, that means the popularly misnamed Super Tuscans and of course the fabulous Barolo's and Barbaresco from Piedmont but really it's the breadth and depth of their common wines, their table wines and even the wines formerly considered peasant wines. The Italians are just so prolific and diverse with their varietals and styles!!!

Living 5 minutes from McLaren Vale and some of the best wine districts in the world I'm spoiled for choice.

Here are two from the weekend.

A 2006 John and Margarete Glaetzer's Shiraz blend from Langhorne Creek which I was concerned about but was perfect with a light spicy finish.

And a 2012 Bernoota Shiraz/Cabernet - just for drinking.

I also have enjoyed the apothic wines, they are nice flavorful wines at their price point.
Right now for a little more money, my favorite is from Oliver Winery, their estate label, Creekbend Chambourcin, great dry red with a fantastic berry finish. To much work this week I will have to wait till the weekend to enjoy, can't wait

We nurses walk on the wild side. Ok, we're often spotted in the pubs around the hospital after out shifts having a few from time to time. Don't get me started on how dirty we can get.

The Caymus looks like a lovely wine. Will look it up.

Marc, awesome wines. I have a friend who comes from the Piedmont area & is starting a wine import business for the wines in the area. Gorgeous tasting thats for sure. I don't drink them often, lowest price starts about $30 & up here for 750ml.

This brings back memories from my early drinking teen years. I didnt know they still made it. Guess they're doing ok. Love the description. I suppose if I wanted to have sandy tasting wine, this would be the one.

PS...if you drank a full bottle might improve your golf game.
