No, I bought all of mine. My wife barely knew what a Rolex was until I bought her one. She got hers as a gift!!! Does that count?

I got a 1970's-vintage TT DJ from my parents for my 25th birthday (actually, the deal - as proposed by me - was that the watch would be birthday and Christmas for five years). That was in 1983. When I bought my President, I gave the watch to my Dad to wear. He did so until his death in November 2006 and then the watch came back to me. It has a lot of sentimental value so I don't wear it much - it mostly stays on the winder. I have a total of five Rolexes (and I'm sure there will be more), but that one still means the most to me.

Best,
Skip

My 1st wife gave me my first Rolex as a graduation present from medical school...Her graduation. I ended up paying for both the watch and medical school not to mention a lot of other things. I got no benefit from the MD or the Mrs. but still enjoy the Rolex. My 2nd Rolex and 2nd wife are far better...LOL.

1st was an inheritence. Wouldn't exactly call it a gift, and I would gladly run over it with a truck to have my dad back. Still, I wouldn't trade it for anything else. I am wearing it right now, but it is not generally my daily wearer.

Does it count if the wifey bought hers using my credit card and I knew it only when the credit card company rang me?

My Todor was an inheritant from my father in 1979.

My Rolex Date I bought it in 1996.

My Rolex YM 1 I bought it in 2007.

May be there should be a poll to see HOW MANY ROLEX ARE INHERITED!

Hi i think most of us here got it as gifts for our own selfs LOL. Took me awhile to save up before i got mine. Guess it is rewarding one self can be considered a gift. I think it is a workhorse with reputable track records. :) So why not reward ourself?

My first Rolex was a gift - to myself - just like Velitsko. I saved a long time for it, having a part time job after highschool.

My first Rolex, a Date, was a gift to myself, that cost just under £2000, which at the time seemed a massive amount to spend on a watch.

Since then, I've got the bug.

The Date was flipped towards my DD, but, as my first Rolex, I got a lot of enjoyment wearing it.

My GMT (16710) was a gift from my wife for our 15 wedding anniversary. We share the same checkbook of course.
