Poll: Patek 5296g sector vs Lange 1815 Up/down
I narrowed my three choices from the last thread to these two. What do you think in this head to head?

Between these two, it has to be the up down for me. The short hands on the patek bother me. That and I love the 1815

Between the two I would have to say 1815 up/down as well. But I think 5296 would probably hold value better so just something to consider when looking at picking up the 1815 up/down at the right price.

Not familiar with the 5296. Pics would help. So 1815!

I was considering the 5296g sector dial and the wg 1815 up down as well. I ultimately decided on the 1815, for a few reasons...
first, I liked the manual wind movement. Second, I already had a 5711 and 5167, which already used the Patek 324 movement, so I thought the 5296 might be a bit redundant for my collection. Third, I found the 1815 to be a bit more versatile - I think you can put it on a brown or vintage leather strap and dress it down a bit. Finally, I liked the dial symmetry without the date, as well as the touch of red in the power reserve indicator. I ended up deciding to go with the 1815 up down, but while on the waiting list at my AD, an 1815 chrono (previous design) in white gold came in pre-owned, so I jumped on it (it ended up being only slightly more than a new 1815 up down, so jumped on it). Otherwise, I would be wearing the up down. With that said, the 5296g sector dial is a great watch, and I'm sure I would have been happy with that reference as well. |

How about a 6000g, similar aesthetic to the sector dial but adds the fantastic 240 movement.

The mini rotor on the 240 is amazing but so does the engraved balance cock of the lange? hmm... quite hard to choose but i will go for the 1815 up/down on this.

I love PP but between these two the 1815 wins but make sure you love it and get a great deal as others have stated if going to resell can take a major hit.

Tried on both. PP5296G (sector dial) is one of the best Calatrava watches made and would be my #1 choice! It's a classic watch which is very versatile.

I really like both choices but the 1815 up/down to me is just a fabulous piece. I have had this one on my list for some time. I ended up with an ALS timezone1 but at some point would still like the 1815 up/down. It is simple-- I like the old railroad type dial and I am a big fan of PR indicators. So the ALS all the way!!
