I prefer the Explorer II polar but for the coat and tie business environment, I'd chose the SubC. Actually if it were me, it would be an Explorer or Datejust II.

For 2 years my sub C date LN was my only watch, great with shorts or with a suit, son't see myself wearing a polar with a suit...

Sub, no question. As others stated, it looks great with the most casual or most formal attire.

I love the polar ExpII, but the one thing that has delayed my getting one is the thought that it would not see a lot of wrist time due to the more casual look that I perceive it to have.

I'd be much more likely to get a Sub date in SS to add to my SubC non date at this point, based on its versatility and the fact that to me, it's probably the best looking Rolex model.

Tbh that's what my mindset was for a few weeks before I decided to go ahead with the purchase. I had been looking for a decent white dial watch for ages and I settled on the polar thinking I would only wear it occasionally.

BUT, since it arrival it's taken over all the wrist time from my other watches, including the subc and PO chrono which were my two favourite pieces😊

If you're considering it you should definitely get one, it truly is a magnificent watch

I have the 216570 Polar and it has become my daily wearer - my go-to. It is extremely comfortable, as comfortable as my departed 2254.50, which was the most comfortable watch I've ever worn. It's also durable, meaning, you don't feel you need to baby it. It takes and LOVES the scratches, the activities, the shocks, and delivers the entire Rolex Explorer experience all day long. I absolutely love mine... It's also a lot prettier (eye candy presence) than most people realize, so you can dress it up or down.

I have also the 216570 ivory.
I have been owning it since last November and am very happy with it. Telling from the looks, it has definitively potentio to becoming a keeper, if you have a big wrist or like the weight and feel of big watches.
I cannot give you a long-term impression, though.

The sub is a classic. No question about it. And it's a great looking watch, but it's also like a navy blazer: it's versatile, it looks good, it works in a lot of settings - and it's ubiquitous. No one is ever going to tell you not to get a navy blazer, but odds are you're not going to be the only guy in the room wearing one.

The 216570 is a reference that's outside the box. I can't think of a single thing I don't like about it, a single event I wouldn't wear it to, or any attire I wouldn't wear it with. But that's just me. It all comes down to personal preference. To the OP: I hope your friend buys what he likes instead of what he thinks someone in his profession should wear.

I have to say, I agree with everything you have said regarding both models and my thoughts are in line with yours regarding the 216570😊 it truly is a keeper!

As for my friend, after borrowing my polar yesterday he has decided it's the one for him and is purchasing on the weekend
