The Ring: Scariest flick in 20 years?
I dig horror movies, and very VERY rarely does one actually creep me out. But man, The Ring is absolutely TERRIFYING.
My wife is off in Hong Kong with our son, so I thought I'd take advantage of a rare chance to watch The Ring, which I love. But seriously, after the first 5 minutes I had to turn it off. The opening scene scares the crap out of me! ![]() Last movie I saw that scared me like that was Alien... and I was, like, 11 at the time! Am I a complete puss? Or is The Ring one scary flick?

You can't be that bad, I don't watch any of them!!
My wife loves the scary movies and The Ring is one her favs. She is trying to get me to go see the new horror film that was just released but I think I will pass. ![]()

I'll have to look into it. I'm always on the lookout for a movie that I'll find "scary" in some way. Sure, all kinds of things scared me as a kid, but in my adult life nothing seems to frighten me.
The only movie I've ever seen as an adult that I found truly creepy is Silence of the Lambs. I've seen it many times. I think it's so well done. Anyway, I'll have to check out some reviews of The Ring. Most of the time I see them trying to depict scary stuff, and I just see actors acting out a contrived story. Hopefully this one will be the real deal. :-) |

It's got a VERY high creep-out factor IMO. Watch it in a dark room all alone, and then tell me you weren't genuinely listening for odd clunks in the back rooms of your house when it's over.

Watched The Descent a few days ago,a bit slow to start, but when it come to thescary bit made jump once or twice.Past horrors Se7en with Brad Pit
that was good,Dawn of the Dead was quite scary,A Nightmare on Elm Street series, thought they were quite good Freddie was scary.Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer ,IMO was just a little bit in-front of another favourite of mine Silence of the Lambs. But the best one I can remember was Psycho the 1960 version. ![]()

![]() ![]() j/k.....It was quite a good movie, but the wife (who doesn't like scary stuff at all) and I watched it without a problem. You really should finish it - I found her search for the truth to be interesting. I think there is another one coming out in that series, but not sure if it's based on another Japaese movie as the first Ring was. |

Thank you, Padi. I had to get all the way down to your post before seeing the first mention of Psycho. Probably the greatest horror film of all time. How long was it after seeing that movie before you could take a shower? And then how long before you became comfortable again taking a shower?

Zemina is another great fan of horror films.
In all fairness to the maestro of horror, Alfred Hitchcock, I think the best of them all was PSYCHO going way back to 1960. The suspense, the sharp, screeching violinistic music and the acting was of a different genre. A remake of that same film was such a silly flop, it came absolutely no where even near enough to make any kind of impact on the audience. The original was indeed a masterpiece of that great, double-chinned genius. ![]() ![]()
