Updating from Sub 1680

I don't want to sell my Sub 1680, but the feel of the newer Subs, with their weight and improved bands make me want to update to the 116610. I would get the WGA Sub but like the black dial too much. What do you think?

Keep the 1680 and get the SS sub as upgrade or do you want to stick with a PM?

The 116610 would be a great pair to your 1680.

Or you could get a 16600/16660 for a more modern feel

I ended up with a matte 16660 to compliment my 1680 and 116613 and I think I like it best of all.

You can always pickup a newer sub, but Ive learned that it's harder to replace a really good condition 1680. I sold a excellent condition 1680 whitesub, then realized I should have kept it.

Why sell it? A 1680 and a 116610 are two very different watches. I have a 1680, a 14060 and a 116600, and they're each very different from each other.

Keep the 1680, add the 116610.

Well IMHO the only upgrade will be the price on any ceramic type sub.

depends on how many watches in the collection. if limited, like me, i would either get happy with my vintage or trade and go modern, as i wouldn't want two watches that are (relatively speaking) similar and serve basically the same purpose in the collection.

unless an absolutely stunning example or one with a lot of personal history, i would have no problem flipping a 1680 for a new submariner.

Keep the 1680 if possible. A 116610 or 114060 would compliment it nicely. Best of both worlds.

No, I would not sell the 1680; it was my first Rolex. I like DCheeta's advice concerning the many differences between the two examples. Since I already have a YG Sub, I would have a more diverse collection of Subs. Why does TRF logic always add another watch to their collection? Many thanks gentlemen.

I just went through this same thing myself. Keep the 1680 and add a modern Sub.
