Walked into Costco ready to buy dinner and almost walked out with TT Sub

Watches were BNIB. I'm not sure of the warranty because Costco usually has a very liberal policy if you are not satisfied they will take it back except for computers and TV's which changed to 90 days a couple of years ago. I noticed a Costco card in the box which probably stated the warranty period. I should have check but I had to buy groceries for dinner.

I used to sell computer software and hardware to Costco and I know their maximum mark-up is 13% and they usually like exclusive or special bundles so that others cannot price match since it is considered different kind of like the mattress industry.

Best watch I ever saw was a carbon fiber Jaeger-LeCoultre 15 years ago for under $3,000. I have buyers remorse and always think about the one that got away

Yeah...one could do better with our trusted sellers IMO. But it is kind of cool to see a Rolex sitting at your local Costco.

2 months ago I seen a Datejust with box papers and warranty card at Tulsa Hills Sams...kinda took me by suprise.

My wife is a hairdresser and owns a hair salon and we walk over to the beauty aisle and she about flips out and I have to hear her about how Sams shouldnt be carrying Paul Mitchell Pro supplies, that only authorized dealers are supposed to carry that stuff...granted, it was more expensive than what she can get the items for at her authorized supplier but still, it was kindof funny to see her totally blow a gasket....

Why? Costco warrants their products for longer and covers everything? Also, how do we know that it doesn't have a warranty card? After two years, what good is a warranty card anyway?

I don't want Costco or anyone they send it to working on my Rolex. If the watch had any problems within the first 2 years I only want Rolex working on it so need the warranty card.

A Rolex is not some sort of godly item. If the price is right, I don't see why buying it from Costco is an issue.

Agree 100%. I bought a watch there for my wife. After a couple of years it fogged up so I returned it to Costco with no receipt. They refunded me more than I paid for it. I would buy a Rolex from them in a heartbeat. Too bad I have not really seen them in NJ.

My wife just txted me with a picture of this -- she's at the Mountain View Costco right now. I txted back that my birthday was comming up and that TT Submariner looked really nice. I'm not holding my breath, though -- but if she did buy it for me you better believe I'd wear it, Costco or not! ;)

A VERY close relative of mine was the manager of jewelry operations for Costco. I know the full story and wish I could share it all with you but I don't want to get someone in trouble. The watches come from a "diverter", a 1 man operation who acquires the watches and supplies them to Costco. Costco actually had to buy him a computer so he could conduct business with them electronically.

Is his code name DavidSW?? Just kidding. But they arrive at Costco the same way they arrive to every forum member that purchases BNIB from any trusted seller on the forum.

I don't get the point of removing the warranty card, if Rolex wanted to know can't they just run the serial number and know what dealer it came from??

Believe there was another Costco thread that had a link to where Rolex tried to stop this as well, and was unsuccessful.

hmmmm. So you can use it as a trade in for no loss. You see another you like in a while, you just bring yours back. If they dont have the money in the cash register just use the gift card to purchase another watch? Is this thinking correct?

It is rather amusing seeing the reactions of some people in this thread.

Must be terrible to be so insecure that a watch being sold at Costco causes such unrest.

The average person doesn't know about buying watches from the "trusted sellers" on the Internet. If someone can get a deal on a Rolex at Costco, why not?

It's not like Rolex is known for making watches that leave the factory defective or have issues within two years. Who cares about the warranty? Especially when Costco is apparently giving you the best return policy ever.

I find that very very very hard to believe Costco get there watches the same way as any other grey market dealer does.And myself would have no problem whatsoever in buying a Rolex from Costco.

But what about buyers who want to overpay at the AD in the hopes of being fawned over and getting chocolates and hats or golf tees or whatever?

How do they fit into the buying ROLEX at Costco scene?

Costco better find a way to cater to them.. perhaps a private tour of the sampling stations, maybe a complimentary red vest or a custom ROLEX highlighter for the ceremonial "highlighting of the receipt" on the way out of the garage doors.

Cmon, really? What, will the Costco Police (i.e. 90 year old retired people that sign your receipts on the way out) track you down in the middle of the night, in a dark and secluded alley, and beat you to a pulp for sharing their "secret sources", lol.

Question though for those who have bought (or attempted to buy) a Rolex at Costco....does the Jewelry Manager entertain price negotiations?
