Any Radiologists On Board?

I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon at my Orthopedic Doctor's office which will include a few X-Rays of my bum Osteo Arthritic Knee, which will be taken...

Should I not wear any of my mechanical watches? Not sure if the X-Ray process will or can damage my new Submariner, or my Omega Speedmaster, if I choose to wear it instead. What say you?

Thanking you in advance!

X-rays are no problem for your watch.

It's strong magnetic fields like MRIs that can potentially cause problems.

Except if you're wearing a Milgauss.

What time is your appointment? You may have time to pick up a Milgauss, just to be on the safe side.

Not even a Milgauss will do the trick if you're having an MRI.

The Milgauss is rated to 1000 gauss.

An MRI can generate 5000 to 30000 gauss and beyond.

~~~~I had an MRI done on my left foot a few months ago, and now that you mention it, I recall wearing the Speedy there and the MRI operator telling me to put my watch along with other personal *metallic* items in a basket which she removed from that room. FWIW she assured me my Omega watch would be kept safe, but I am unaware, or have been, if the X-Ray technology would cause any problems, to which you replied no...thank you!
Nice trauma pics Fellas!
I'm going in for X-Rays as I have a new pain med doctor that wants to see film of my knee...to justify writing scripts...
I fractured my left tibia plateau 30 years ago, on a golf course of all places...cart nearly ran me over, before it jack knifed and threw me off, with me landing on my knee
Been on pain meds for close to 5 years now...horrible pain in that knee. Chickens have come home to roost for a bit now so to say
FWIW, my new doctor wears a Rolex Didn't see the dial but caught a glimpse of the band and clasp she was wearing. 100% Rolex
All the best, hope they sort it for you. I've been on meds every day for just over 3yrs so I feel your pain (excuse the pun)
I stand corrected.
As stated, an Xray is not the same as an MRI
In an MRI, you wouldn't be allowed to wear any watch or any metal for that matter, regardless of whether the watch would survive, because it could potentially rip off your wrist and take your hand with it.
