Why do Rolex 14060 submariner models have a case with holes instead of like the other sport models that are newer with no holes cases?

The 14060 was never upgraded with the solid end-links, so it remained as it always had been, as opposed to, say, the 114270 that transitioned to the solid end-links.

That's a very fundamental explanation and there may be other factors.

Rolex kept the old classic around for a bit of nostalgia.. Nothing wrong with that.

And I'm guessing it's cheaper to keep the old proven manufacturing processes in place than it is to update. I, for one, love the lug holes.

14060M is my fav and only steel sub left in the herd. It's got a lot of classic DNA in my opinion.

Get a 114060 if you don't like the through holes. Then all you need to worry about is being able to lift your arm.
