Glad you straightened that out. Two entirely different wineries. BTW...SLWC had a small milestone in wine history....Warren Winiarski of SLWC is the man whos Cailifornia Cab beat the French for the first time in 1973, in the blind tasting in Paris. I believe it was the SLV bottle.

You are correct, its the notoriety I mentioned yesterday, but that's also why there are no sacred cow's in the wine business, it's a "what have you done for me lately" bizz. Even with that notoriety I'd still rather drink SLW's juice 9 vintages out of 10. The two wineries fought over the rights to the Stag's Leap name for the better part of two decades. God love the legal system and the zero-sum game of notoriety.

Two wines ready for tonight. A favorite winery of ours, Hanzell, since we visited it a few years ago.

Sonoma cab recommendations

Tonight's dinner partner: 2008 Sebastiani Cherryblock Cabernet. Don't know much about Sonoma cabs (these bottles were a gift), but loved the bottle we opened 6 months ago -- anyone have other recommendations from Sonoma?

Drank this one on Saturday night. It is a wine from the company founded by Australia's best known and most prominent winemaker, Peter Lehmann.
The company is and has been based in Tanunda in South Australia's Barossa Valley since it started producing it's own wine in 1980.
This is a typical Lehmann red wine with great depth and body. The 2004 was a particularly good vintage and it is drinking at it's best now - which is good as I have a few more.

Huge hit last night with the guests. Everyone went nuts and went through 6 bottles. I tried to put out some nice cabs but even I couldn't get enough of this. Silky smooth and finished like nothing I've had from a Pape
Going to reorder ASAP

I would like to recommend the Frank Family 2013 Lewis Vineyard Reserve Chardonnay, No Trees, is an excellent chardonnay!

You may already know this but, No Trees (on the label/bottle) = their Reserve wines. We visited the vineyard and joined their wine club this year.

Yes - I remember about the label - we visited them last year when we were out in Napa, and did the reserve tasting, but for some reason they were not pouring the reserve Pinot (which I was after) --- we are actually headed back this Christmas -- will definitely have lots to talk about!!!

We're already setting up tastings! Have to stop at some of our usuals -- but looking forward to a few new stops along the way!

Thanksgiving goodness: Le Reve champagne, Argyle Spirit Hill pinot noir, Garrison Creek syrah, and a port and late harvest riesling for dessert (we didn't end up opening the chardonnay). The syrah worked better than expected with the turducken my girlfriend made
