![]() If anyone's curious, pics were taken during my stay at the Sofitel Ia Ora resort. Second time I've stayed there in one of the overwater bungalows facing the ocean. Fun snorkeling right outside. I brought a bunch of wine and champers b/c prices for everything on Moorea are high.

I think it's great that this thread started with a couple sub $10 bottles of wine and has gone from there to $100+++ bottles and everywhere in between. Really represents the great diversity amongst our members.
***as I sit here and during the most interesting wine I have drank in a while because I am too lazy to leave the hotel bar. And it was cheap. $10 a bottle. Salmon Creek 2013 Merlot out of Sonoma. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Did a little digging through my Uncle's wine cellar this weekend and we decided on this one. It was delicious and so was the homemade bread.

Lots of great cabs on here (Caymus, Far Niente), but for everyday wines, you can't go wrong with Willamette OR Pinot Noirs. Great to drink by themselves and go well with everything from salmon to steak. Lots of great bottles in the $20-$25 range. Benton Lane and Penner Ash are both great values. Look for 2012!

Love the Cateau Neuf's.. 1st time I experienced that was early in our marriage while visiting in Denmark, when my father-in-law broke open a bottle of 1986. Thought I died and went to heaven..!! - Was collecting wine labels for a looong time and have some great memories.... . The Apothic Dark is, very very good, IMO.., better than its regular Red. Their white is one of my wife's favorites.... ![]()

Saturday night. Fun food, great music and good wine.
Tonight - Proscuitto & Zucchini Pie Irom Maiden (first album), Fleetwood Mac (first album) and The Who at Leeds. Riddoch Coonawarra Merlot 2012. I don't generally bother with Merlots as they rarely have the quality to stand on their own as a single variety. This one does. ![]()

Trace, Help a brothah out, how is this wine the most transcendent, sublime, young wine I've ever tasted? Isn't that reserved for more established name plates? God bless the small purveyors!

Freemark Abbey Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012
Tonight's Delight!
♦ ♠ ♥ ♣ Training for Vegas GTG ♦ ♠ ♥ ♣ Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California I must say this is tasting very nice. If I can keep my lips off the glass for a little while I can tell it is going get be even better with some time! I would recommend this bottle if you are looking for a nice blend! ![]() ♦ RP|93 ♦ JS|92 ♦ W&S|90 Winemaker's Notes: From a wonderfully abundant vintage with exceptional quality, this Freemark Abbey Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend from over 20 + vineyards using all 5 Bordeaux varietals. Selecting from all over the Napa Valley, we were truly kids in a candy store in creating this 2012 cabernet with its' youthful dark ruby color. With great complexity, the wine expresses aromas of fresh boysenberry, blackberry pie, Bing cherry, dark chocolate, chocolate berry truffle dusted with cocoa powder, all integrated with the spicy sweetness of oak, cedar, cinnamon, clove and a hint of black pepper. The body is very full with a soft entry, coupled with dark cherry/berry flavors that develop from start to finish. With great texture and mouth feel, this cabernet is full bodied, rich and opulent. In one word... delicious. Blend: 75.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16.6% Merlot, 3.3% Cabernet Franc, 2.6%Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec ♥ This is going to pair great with the Filet Mignon, Asparagus and Baked Potatoes the Wife is preparing! ![]()

Yup, E Guigal Cotes du Rhone is probably one of the most consistent value priced wines on the market and a house staple here.
