Pretty good for $15 a bottle...

Winemaker's Notes

Dark fruit with espresso and spice on the palate. A full mouth feel with lingering finish.

Wine Enthusiast - WE89 -

"Concentrated, ripe and saturated with fruit and spice characters, this wine has a deeper-than-usual color. Potent black cherry and clove aromas partner with rich cherry and blackberry jam flavors and a firm, tannic texture. Hints of nutmeg, cinnamon, cedar and vanilla weave through the flavors and hang on to the finish. Editor's Choice."

I can't say enough about Concha y Toro. One one of my favorite wines while in Brasil since a bottle of cheap 9.00US Mondavi is over 50US there. Actually I drink it the US too. They do a superb red. Huge company now. I think I read they bought Fetzer wineries a few years ago. If you get a chance buy Concha y Tora Cabernet, it's from Chile

We had a bottle at the GTG this year at Capitol Grill

We like buttery Chardonnay as well. Beringer Private Reserve is another great choice.

Heading to a Derby party here in a bit. Mint Julep is not really my thing. Think I will go with this.

Nice Work!

A Chianti with a pasta dinner tonight! in $30 price range - WE 91 pts

Villa Antinori 2011 Chianti Classico Riserva (Gold Label)

Marchesi Antinori adds Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva to the Villa Antinori wines. The all new, modern Antinori Chianti Classico Cellars in Bargino, are the place where this wine ferments and ages. Thus 2011 is only the second vintage of this Riserva and it is a blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot. The juice was gently pressed into small French and Hungarian oak barrels for 12 months of aging. It has an intense ruby red in color with fruit and spice aromas. Light touches from the oak aging underscore the cherry and red berry notes that are typical of the Sangiovese grape. Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored it 91 points saying "This delicious wine opens with aromas of violet, iris, underbrush, black fruit and cinnamon-spice notes. The concentrated palate delivers a solid core of rich black cherry accented with notes of black pepper and Mediterranean herbs alongside firm tannins that carry on to the finish."

Wife picked up at Costco to try. Pretty good for about 15 bucks. A little fruit forward for me but good with a spicy chicken dish!

It's been a while since I have had any of their delicious wines and that's a major change to label. When did that happen?

That label is for Winery Only Wines that are not available anywhere else but at the winery. Small production, sometimes seasonal and unique wines.
