I was at the AD and they cleaned my watch; when they returned the watch about 10 minutes later, it was very clean but warm to the touch including the case. I'd like to think they wouldn't use a method that might damage the watch - should I be concerned?

Not enough information. What did they clean it with? Hot water? Steam machine?

steam machine of some sort - i didn't see what they did in the back. All I know is it came back clean and the case was warm.

Probably steam....same as used on wife's engagement ring

Unless the gaskets in your watch are compromised, it will be fine. After being steamed, you will see condensation under the crystal if there is a problem.

Most jewelers have a jewelry steamer in the back and that is likely what was used..

It will not harm your watch in any way.

Steam does not harm the watch.

I heard the reason jewelers always ask to clean your jewelery is because they put it in an ultrasound machine that vibrates the piece and along with the dirt microscopic amounts of gold come with it. They then collect the gold and sell it.

Has anyone else heard of this?

I heard they did it because it rattles the Diamonds and other gems out of your piece and then they sell them

Seriously I would think they steam cleaned it.

Not true. They do it because it keeps you in the store longer (giving them more time to sell you something) and they can sell repair work if they find something wrong with your jewelry.
