Slept on a SN bed in a hotel once and hated every minute of it. Could never get comfortable and just didn't like the feeling. We got a Tuft & Needle mattress last year and couldn't be happier.

I am 66 years old. Having slept on many kinds of mattresses, ultimately it does not matter to me. Sleep on whatever feels comfortable to you.

I have a temperpedic and love it. It's only downside is errr more effort required during other bedroom activities.

"Tuft and needle"
Stand out Among the crop of new ~foam mattress offerings that have brought the price point down to a more sensible level for what they are. The most significant advantage to the ~foam offerings is the return policy can not be beat...buy it, sleep on it for a month or two, if you like it keep it, if not full refund. There is no downside to trying it and for what it's worth I have both a temperpedic and a tuft and needle, they are a bit different from each other, mostly subjective however the latex of the tuft and needle sleeps a bit cooler than the memory foam of the temperpedic.

Slept on the Sleep Number bed for a couple of nights at a Sheraton. Didn't like it at all. Felt like the electric pump inflatable mattress I bought for my kid's room for when he had a friend sleep over. YMMV, but I'd never own one. Give me a good high quality pillow top any day over and SN mattress.

I love my tempurpedic and it's even better with a great feather bed on top. My gf hates it, even with the feather top. She wants to try a SN. Argh! |

Sleep Number bed worth it?
My parents just got one and they are not loving it. Only been a few weeks for them... They say it is Hot as your body heat is trapped by the material.
We have a Beautyrest Black mattress and after about 3 years it is dipping. Call to see about warrantee and they send a guy out and we are just under the cut off for the acceptable tolerance range they have for replacement.

I have a foam bed made by Brooklyn Bedding. Did a ton of research and found their foam was very high quality (alleged to be superior to even that of the Tempurpedic) at about 40% of the cost. I did have a firm Tempurpedic which we loved but needed a split king due to snoring and reflux. We are both very happy with our decison over the Sleep Number. The wife objected to the split down the middle for about two days. After she realized that I do not snore nearly as much or loudly with the head of the bed elevated, she has not complained at all.

Well I was out at my friends farm today laying on the ground with the beautiful breeze running across my face. That's when it hit me.... It felt better in the sharp grass, covered in dirt, that my experiences with SN hotel beds.
Ok, maybe I'm a touch jaded.... However my iComfort is money. I also just moved our other memory foam to the basement and hung a hammock in one of our spare rooms. Now THAT is amazing. I'm now debating to see what my next project will be. Just maybe hanging out bed from some chains and bolting them to the ceiling ( no joke ). Apparently the subtle movement while sleeping helps you sleep. Think about a baby, they love to be rocked. It's glorious to sleep in a rocking chair.... So why not make a bed that does everything we do for babies. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have owned a Sleep Comfort Qn Size for probably 15 years now. I quit using it after about 3 years, when I switched to Hastens. Anyway, I initially got it because of back issues & I liked it in the beginning. Talked an Aunt & Uncle into one because of Uncle's back problem and they never liked it. Anyway, a couple of thoughts:
1. Like the idea of softer or firmer (though it's not really firm, when "pumped up") 2. Pump was noisy (maybe the new ones aren't) 3. Mine had an issue with pump, so I peeled back the layers... yuck!! Google some of the issues with mold on these things. Again, maybe/hopefully they've improved technology and materials. 4. Service was ok, nothing too fantastic 5. It worked fine the first couple of years, then I was over it. My Hasten?! Most amazing mattress. One in the guest room too and my friends claim best sleep ever. At any rate, good luck with your decision. According to experts, sleep is important to overall health & well being. |

I had owned a sleep number bed years ago, the problem was my wife like a softer setting and I liked a firmer setting. What happen was I would roll to her side during the night, eventually after a few months we both started rolling to the center of the bed. We contacted sleep number and explained the issue and they sent a foam divider which was something you find in a box as packing material. We sold the the bed after a year. It was an expensive lesson.

Well guys I decided to pass on the SN P5 bed. I think the deal breaker was when I talked to the sales person again and she said most people leave the bed at one number for the life of the mattress.
Seems kind of pointless when you can just find a traditional mattress that is about the firmness you need. The hunt to relieve my back pain continues. |
