1675 Dial Question/Concern
Gentlemen, I have a bit off quandary here. I bought this 1675 around a year and half ago from a very reputable dealer. I accepted that it wasn't pristine, that the hands had been colored to match the dial, and that the dial had some "even aging". I've recently decided to sell it, and had an offer to inspect, and possibly buy it, from a local dealer. I met him yesterday and he, rather quickly, declared that the dial had been touched-up, and/or repainted. I assured him that I bought it with no mention of anything of the sort, and stood firm. "No. It's been retouched. It's a matte dial and that doesn't look matte."
Well, between my lack of expertise in dials, and my defense of the dealer who sold me the watch, I felt a little sick. But, I also wasn't willing to accept his word as gospel. So, to that end, what do you fellas think? The spot next to the 12 o'clock marker is suspicious, but I always chalked it up to moisture damage at some point in its past. |

No expert here, but it does look somewhat like a touch up was done but it seems odd to have one spot of the dial fail... Generally the dials I have come across with paint problems have them all over the dial and not a single localized failure.

I want to stress that I am withholding judgement on this, as I'm just seeking some insight, in light of wanting to sell the watch, and wanting to be able to fully disclose everything I can . I didn't think twice about this initially when I purchased it, as I was "buying the seller" and assumed there was nothing unmentioned or nefarious going on. |

Andy, the dial is in poor condition whether it has been touched-up or not. I can't really see how it would affect the value much or if at all.
But, based on the seller's description of the dial being in very good condition, and our conversation, the dial is not as described in my opinion.
