New sub price

I was quoted 12,180.00 a few weeks ago for a new two tone blue dial submariner. Is this a good number for the watch, or should I try and go lower? I really like the security in buying from an AD.
I set out several months ago to aquire a good solid watch & almost bought an older sub for a little over 8,000 but hesitated. Soon into my research I learned about the newer, better sub & bagan to consider if the inflated price would be worth it. I still half way feel like I should just go ahead and get the white gold sub. Either way, I want to make an informed purchase! decisions decisions...

Seems like good price but if you keen you can find TT models for better prices here, on sale forum. Just check trusted sellers.

I think that you'll still get that same security buying from trusted dealers here.
They all typically ship overnight, fully insured, with direct signature required.

And you will get quite a fantastic deal from them over AD pricing.
I got my SubC for almost 2k less than AD.

ADDY616 trusted seller has a very nice used one. But I got a new one from him through AD at better price then you posted. He is a great guy to deal with.

Price is good, but get the white gold sub if that's what you want. What discount can they give you for the WG?

Just got the 116619 and love it. One consideration is to get the TT now and enjoy it for awhile and then when you are ready trade up to the WG sub. You will take a hit on resale but that may be offset with a better discount from the AD as a repeat buyer if you continue to go that route.

On the other hand if you go trusted seller you will save. The best my AD was offering for the 116619 was a little over 20 percent which is around 29k. Trusted sellers sell new for 27.5k and used from 20-24k depending on age and condition.

Mine was gently used but had an open card from a US AD. Saved over $13k from retail!

If you want the WG sub, then that's what you should get.

Another advantage to buying from a TRF seller is that you often save on sales tax. When spending $12K (or $25K) it starts to make a difference.

Is 12k a good number? From an AD, probably so. They can be had BNIB here for more than 1k lower. Security? You get the same security from one of the trusted sellers as any AD.

But, ultimately...get the WG sub if that's what you want. If you start flipping around, it will cost more.

Little bit of a deceiving thread title. The WG Sub is 3x the price of the TT though if buying new

I'm in VA and recently purchased from an AD. I got the BLNR from King's Jewelers in Alexandria. I had a great experience with them. I would highly recommend going there and seeing if you can get a deal. I was able to ship to DC and paid no tax, which is a nice savings for your 12K Sub. Feel free to PM me and I can give you additional details if you are interested.

I do like the WG quite a bit, but I don't think I'm ready for such a reward at this point (thats what this is). I think more enjoyment can be had from first wearing the TT for a while. Ultimately I'd like to own a hulk and a smurf in addition to the blusey.

I've found a few promising specimens in the for sale section since creating this thread.

Thanks for the replys too! What a warm welcome for a first post, at least in comparison to other interweb forums...

Go BNIB from a trusted seller on the forums. Same amount on security and most of the time you can even get your name on the warranty card.

Some ADs will deal, some won't. I forget the list price for that model, but I'd consider at least 15% off list a decent deal based on being offered this discount on TT watches from an AD. And that was in a stronger watch market. Otherwise I'd go trusted seller.
