X series Daytona
Not sure if this line of questioning is allowed in this forum but...
I have seen a X series daytona, inverted '6'. The gaurentee papers date it as of 1994 and has polished center links on the strap. My research suggests that a X series should be dated around 1991 and not have polished links. Is this mismatch on the date and strap common or is something iffy? edit: I have combined both of your questions into the same thread to avoid confusion.. |

Welcome to the forum uvii,
I moved your question to the General Rolex Discussion board where it will get more exposure.. Let me say that "X"s were made from 1991 through 1993, so it is completely possible for an "X" Daytona to have been made in late 1993; sold in 1994 and have warranty papers dating it as 'new' that year. ![]()

X series Daytona
I'm looking at an X series daytona. Looks a nice and clean example. However the papers show it as a 1994 and it has polished center links. All the documentation I can find shows the X series as 1991 and brushed bracelet.
I appreciate that dates may be off a bit but Daytonas have always flown out the door so 3 years difference looks a bit odd. Now when you add the non period bracelet... So does anyone have a view on this? The seller seems genuine and a nice guy. |

It is possible that the watch was made in 1991 and sold in 1994, it took a while for the Daytona's to gain popularity. What is the sellers explanation on the bracelet? Any pics? What is the date on the clasp? Was is changed during a recent service? There is a lot of info missing here IMO. I would proceed with caution.
