Ticking Noise
Hey everyone! Just purchased a Rolex Datejust 2 from an AD yesterday!!!!
Just a quick question. When I put it right up to my hear, I hear a fast ticking noise. Should I be concerned? or am I paranoid? |

I had a similar issue with the sound of the tick being inconstant on my new Explorer II. I posted a thread about it here. I only brought my first Rolex a year ago and so have little experience with how mechanical watches function. I think the fast tick is the escapement mechanism vibrating at 4hz to enable the second hand to glide across the dial. Enjoy your watch. |

Each movement has different sounds, older ones sound different than newer ones. So you should hear a very rapid faint ticking. It's time to worry when the ticking stops under normal wear.
