So last week I took my 18238 to an AD to get a routine service and dial swap done. I asked the manager to send it to New York RSC and he said they won't do it because they only send warranty work there. Well then he said he was going to to send it to Lititz Pa. And I said no and he got upset I told him I wanted it to go to Dallas if they won't send it to NY. He really protested at the idea. After he finally had agreed to send it to Dallas I asked him to install 4 of my links so that when they refinish the case and bracelet they will be included, he then said he wouldn't do it and that he would send them to Rolex separate. I joked at him and said if you can't do it bring me the screwdriver I do all of that stuff myself. Which he still refused. After all of this I was a little irritated considering I'm paying them 150$ to ship it and whatever else they charge.? So after all of this he told me they were going to overnight it this past Tuesday and it will for sure be in Dallas on Wenesday. So this past Thursday rolls around I called RSC in Dallas only to find that they can't confirm if they have it or not! They lady on the phone took my number and said she would call when they did receive it no call yet. Am I worrying what does all of this sound like to you.
Opinions please |

First mistake was not sending it yourself.
The second was using the AD when they refused simple requests. They've lost their way apparently.

Why didn't you send the watch directly to the NY or Dallas RSC...??? I do it all the time. Never a problem. $150 for shipping...??? Amazing.

What paperwork do you have from when you dropped it off? What about a tracking number?

Next time circumvent the inept AD and send the watch directly to Dallas RSC yourself. You do realize you can do this right? Many ADs pad their pockets when you have them send it out!

Would have walked out after all the negativity. Are the corperate? I'd put full court press on AD and threaten bad reviews

Yea would definitely have to agree you should've sent it yourself, however the cost of the shipping doesn't surprise me...a few weeks back I shipped two Rolex from here in Cincinnati to a buddy and very well known and respected member of the forum who resides outside of Dallas who bought them...I shipped through FedEx and to have them shipped overnight I had 3 options all of which were insanely expensive...1 was to have them delivered by 8am which was $157..2 was to have them delivered by 10:30 AM which I went with and that cost me $117, and the third option was to have them delivered by 4 PM which was $96... I had to go with number two because he had prior obligations to attend to and number one I didn't go with just because $157 was flat out pure insanity...not that $117 was a deal but it is what it is. I know one thing for sure, I will damn sure never use or go through a Rolex service center for anything...unless of course I have to use the warranty for my new 116600...damn I hope that doesn't ever happen.. Best of luck to you buddy sorry to hear you're having such an issue with them

I just shipped a watch from Delaware to the Dallas RSC. Cost, $61.00 Registed USPS Mail. I shipped it in an old box I got from from Rolex during a previous service. Wrapped it in brown paper and sealed it with brown postal tape.
Took about a week to get there. I'm surprised Rolex even took your number. The one time I used an AD to ship it, Rolex wouldn't even speak to me. The referred me to the mailing AD. Listen learned: Ship it yourself. Cheaper, you'll have tracking and Rolex has to deal with you. Also save the return shipping box. You can use it again and not have to wait for Dallas to mail one. ![]() One more thing, my AD charged $75 to ship from NJ to Dallas.

The service center in Lititz is service/training center. They actually do great work. It's definitely an option if your AD recommends using them and handles getting it to them. I don't think you can mail them a watch to be serviced directly.
Anyways, for future reference, just bypass AD and mail your watch to RSC of choice yourself. |

Because Jim, the OP stated how much it cost to have the watch shipped overnight by the AD to Rolex..so I was just saying that it's no surprise they charged him what they did as FedEx raped me to have the watches I shipped overnight and you are right FedEx only insures items up to $1k NOT $5k....or at least that's what the FedEx shipping center I use told me...which is why I have the pieces I sell insured on my own....not by FedEx

Oh and by the way Jim...like I stated in my original post ...I've never had to use any RSC so if Rolex doesn't accept watches without them having been shipped by an AD that's news to me .........

One observation: you really have to admire how this forum helps fellow members whenever a genuine situation comes up. While we may bicker about this and that irrelevant, minor point, sometimes vociferously, when someone needs help, it's all hands on deck, which is awesome to see. That AD isn't going to know what hit 'em. Go TRF!

Wow. OP, I wouldn't be "nervous" as I'm sure it's somewhere. I confess though, if given that kind of attitude at the AD, I would have walked out. There are too many options.
