3135 engravings?

Hello again folks!

Curious I worked on a 3135 that had 'Rolex' in gold written.. I think that was a Z sub.. Now I have a Y and it says Montres Rolex? When did they change it or does the plate differ here and there?

Nobody? I'm surprised! Rikki you in here? I wonder if Rolex just alternated the engraving throughout the 3x35 series? I've heard of dial variations of course but perhaps that extends to the movements.

The "Montres Rolex" is on older 3135s, and was changed in the early 2000s to "Rolex". I bought my used Datejust in that timeframe and was very concerned when I had a watchmaker open the back and found a different name than what I had seen in photos. I couldn't believe that a Chinese copy would forget the "Montres", and I found several photos of the newer "Rolex" markings on TRF. So I was convinced Rolex changed the marking.
