My wife and I drank a bottle of 2010 Paulliac Bordeaux on Saturday night. Really love this wine. I have 3 or 4 more bottles and also a couple 2011 that I'm going to hold on to for a couple years.

great vintage for Bordeaux and more time can't hurt but I wouldn't go too long if you like it now because it is age worthy but not a premier cru that needs a minimum 15-20 years. JMHO

![]() This is a very 'under the radar' Cab drinkers merlot and pairs well with just about anything. I would recommend to anyone who might be on the fence about this particular varietal --- you will not be disappointed. Full bodied and complex along with a nice blend of fruit and tannins. Cheers all!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Hey all. I'm getting into Bordeaux. Getting a feel for the regions and classification system. I've only tried a few bottles on the cheaper end and my favorite so far is a 2010 fifth growth Paulliac.
I want to work my way up the growth chart to try to experience the differences...without spending $1k per bottle (for now). As I work further to the top of the growth ranks I can only buy younger and younger wines for what I'm comfortable spending. Will buying and drinking the younger wines from second and third growth vineyards give a feel for the differences in the classifications? Let's just say I picked 2013 and bought a bottle from the same region from each growth classification...does this seem like a smart way learn and experience? I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

For what BDX retails for nowadays, you can easily find aged, in their drinking window examples at auction for the same price or less. Numerous reports and tasting notes out there that mid to late 90s BDX are typically in a great spot.
Bear in mind that stylistically a number of chateau will have changed between their current vintages compared to what they were producing then (aka the "Parkerization" effect). This would be a great learning experience to determine if your palate leans towards classicly styled BDX, or more robust and lush that a few chateau have embraced since then.

Looking through the cellar and decided to open this small production gem of a Pinot Noir made by Kale Anderson -- only about 150 cases produced -- truly a seamless Pinot -- great balance of fruit and smokiness.
Definitely worth a try!!! Cheers all!!! ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Ummm, but isn't it a Grenache/Syrah blend? Or is there a PN version of the Broken Axle?

Back to Bordeaux for this evening --- I figured it was time to open up one of these...
This is a decent vintage -- and Chateau Palmer has always proven to be a spectacular Bordeaux for the price point. Still a bit young -- but hey-- why not!!! Cheers all!! ![]() |

Mmmm!!! Love love love Ch Palmer. But dang it, that's still a toddler in terms of its development. I'm guessing a 4 hour decant before it blossomed?

Hope everyone is having a great week!!
Was looking around in the cellar and decided to open one of these Pinots this evening -- it's the inaugural vintage of the project. VERY nice Sonoma coast Fruit - harvested from the Petaluma gap. This wine is super balanced - with earth tones, a little smokiness -- yet great fruit you would expect from great Pinot Noirs. Pairing with some wild salmon filets with quinoa and sautéed bok choy. (One of if not my favorite Pinot noir pairing!!) Cheers my friends!!! ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
