Should I send 5712 to HSWA under warranty?

My 5712 has consistently been running 4 seconds fast per day. I've had the time peace for over year and a half and it's coming up on warranty expiration.

If it was your personal timepiece , would you all send it to HSWA to have it looked at before warranty expires? I know about Patek turnaround being quite long. Curious to get your thoughts an responses.

PP advertises I think +/- 2 seconds a day and they actually run better than that so it may qualify for a regulation under warranty. But be prepared for your watch to be gone from 3-5 months unless you have special pull with the AD or HSWA.

Meh, keep in mind accuracy varies between usage and placement. 4 seconds is not that bad. Is it worth losing your 5712 for many months? I guarantee it will still happen again. Mechanical watches no matter what the brand will have their faults. Just be glad it's not 10-15 seconds fast/slow a day. If it bothers you that much, just hold the crown backwards a bit so the crown will match the 12 o'clock mark. (since no hacking is available).

No way I would send it in for +4 a day. Well within spec and you risk it coming back with more issues than you sent it in with (no issues IMO).

Personally I never wear a single watch long enough that 4 seconds a day would ever be an issue. I wouldn't send my watch in for what could take weeks and risk tool marks etc. Sure, it is outside spec but it's not faulty or damaged so I'd live with it a few more years and have it addressed during 5 year service.

If you're concerned about 4 seconds then I'd say maybe mechanical watches aren't for you.

4 seconds a day is nothing for a mechanical watch, not worth missing your watch for 4-5 months

An AD with a Patek trained watchmaker should be able to regulate it.

I did it for another watch for 7 seconds in the past but would not bother myself for 4 seconds.

For +4 seconds per day? No way, especially that you wiuld be without it for a very long time, I would keep it and ask them to do it when normal service is due, which they would need to do anyways

1. bring to a watchmaker to check the exact deviation and WR, cld be it s more than 4s/day then your deceision will be easy.
2.if it s just 4s and no other issues I may would wait till service is due.
decide as you feel comfy

It is not running within stated specs, but what matters most of all is not what everyone else thinks you shouldn’t do or they could live with, but whether it bothers you sufficiently to have it assessed and corrected so that it does run according to the specs.
If they strip and rebuild the movement, even as a matter of course, then you’re effectively getting a free service, since it shouldn’t need parts replaced.
If they only test and re-regulate it, then you could expectingly ask for an extension of the warranty commensurate with the time you’re without it (at the very least) or a goodwill offer of an accessory…like the leather travel pouch many seem keen on.

Bottom line...you spent enough money on the thing, it’s not performing as it should, and you’re entitled to have it rectified to your satisfaction.
Don’t live your life according to a bunch of random blokes on the internet, decide for yourself what’s acceptable and what isn’t, irrespective of the commodity value or type involved.

You should try resting the watch in different positions i.e..crown up , crown down, dial down, etc..you may find a position that the watch will slow down during the night while off your wrist.

Risk of damage is my biggest concern, too!

I bet if you send it in, Patek will send it back saying that it's within spec.
