Rolex too small for people with very large wrists?

For decades Rolex produced and sold three sizes; 26m, 30m and 36m. OK the sport watches were a monstrous 40m. How many of these sizes did Rolex sell? Nobody knows for sure: only Rolex does. Did men with large, whatever size that comprises, wrists distain Rolex because they weren't massive. Obviously not. This recent phenomenon of large cases: up to 50 mm, is relatively recent. Try the last 10-15 years. Rolex an admitted late comer. Buyer's choice. Whatever you like. Whatever the size.

The DJII wears quite a bit bigger than the DJ41. I was at an AD last night and finally got to compare my DJII to the 41's in the case and for my 7.5" wrists the II works much better. The associate agreed completely. If you are worried about it looking small on your wrists the II might be the better way to go, unless you want to go to the sport lineup

Most men's Rolex models should look fine on your wrist. If you really want a bigger Rolex you can look at the DDSD, SD43, and YM2.

I'm 6'5" 275lb I wear size 16 shoes and ya I have a big 9.5" .... wrist. My problem is I can't get the bracelet over my hand unless they add 2-3 links I started with a D-Blue the glidlock was a big help.



I always liked the Bluesy so I called my AD he said I have a handful of links come on in he add 3 extra links to get it on my wrist and then fitted it perfectly. Yes it looks small on me compared to other guys but I like it so I wear it .



FYI: I haven't hade one person come up to me and say it looks to small on me.

^^ now that's the way to wear a dssd! I'm not as large as you but I'm pretty muscular about 250lbs and for me the 40mm just look stupid, I feel like I'm wearing a kids watch. No one else ever commented and even when I pointed out I feel like this no one really agreed. Like what's been said wear what you're comfortable in! For me I wasn't comfortable with the 40mm watch on my wrist, doesn't mean it didn't look great simply preference. Now I have a BP FF at 45mm and it looks perfect imo but i saw it on my friends wrist and was like oh that's why everyone goes on about it being so bloody big. Big Bill, you could strap on a wall clock and I think you could pull it off lol, meant in the nicest possible way.

I really don't think anyone sees it like that if I'm honest, it's just a preference thing, and possibly the sheer fact that the option is there, I'm very very sure some of those men that had to wear the 36mm as that's all that was available would have liked a larger watch.

It seems as if the guys that can't pull off the larger watch that feel insecure and mention that bigger = overcompensating. Seems odd. So as to your comment yeah they wore it because that's what was on offer simple.

On a side note people are always getting bigger, stronger, faster. I'm sure the average wrist is bigger now than it was in 1950 just as how an average male is now larger in general.

Hmmmm...looked it up. Tim Tebow is listed as 6' 3" and...260 lbs.

I've read this whole thread and haven't read anyone saying "bigger = overcompensating"

I think you're reading your own thoughts into what people on this thread are actually writing.

It really is a taste / fit issue, and there are no right or wrong answers. Which is why it's fun to read people's opinions. I'm in love with my 40mm blnr but think my scrawny wrists may be overhung by the sky dweller I'm going to try on next week at my AD. The SD may look great; it may not. Part of the magic woven by the maestros at Rolex! The reason we're all here is that these craft machine works of art are worth discussing and obsessing about!
