Limited edition ratio

Not trying to start anything but does anyone know what percentage of Panerai models are limited or special edition?

Still love the brand but they do take a hit on the resale market.

I think the bashing of Panerai over limited additions is tiresome and so over blown. It's become a cliche talking point.

Ballpark number is 1 in 6 are LE or SE.
LE being limited editions typically boutique only. Think blue and green dial releases.
SE being special editions. Think LAB ID, 685/7 etc.

I don't see an issue.

If you really care, look up all of the Panerai models which have been made, then breakout the models which are SE's and divide by the total models.
Not being sarcastic, but it would be pretty easy to do, I just don't care.
Let us know the answer.

I think the previous guess of 1 in 6 is pretty accurate, maybe 1 in 7. I think that the SEs and LEs are very important to the brand for two reasons: they preview what may be coming in future release (so a small set of folks can have it early) and they provide those of us who already have PAMs a reason to buy more.

The reality is that most PAMs look very similar to each other (esp now as they are migrating to the 1xxx line of models) and new models with only slight variations don't drive new business with the embedded base, so SEs and LEs serve to drive some demand.

Just my 2 cents...
